Ex-Megachurch Pastor Goes on Tirade: Says Trump Voters Can’t Be “Good People”

Progressive activist claims half the country is “morally repugnant” in latest anti-Trump rant

A former megachurch youth pastor turned far-left activist is making headlines for a blistering blog post claiming it’s “impossible” to be a good person while supporting President Donald J. Trump.

John Pavlovitz — once a youth pastor at an evangelical church in North Carolina — published the August 2 Substack essay, blasting Trump and his supporters in language that critics say mirrors the bitter political rhetoric that has divided America for years.

“I often hear people say, ‘He or she supports him but is a really good person,’” Pavlovitz wrote. “I consider that an oxymoron. Aligning with him is fundamentally antithetical to anything good.”

Pavlovitz, now a self-styled “digital pastor of the resistance,” has built a following among progressive Christians for his combative political commentary. His work is frequently circulated on left-wing forums, where he is praised for “speaking truth to power” — although in this case, his “truth” amounts to labeling tens of millions of Americans as morally unfit.

In the post, Pavlovitz called Trump “the very worst humanity has produced” and a “moral bottom-feeder without scruples or conscience.” He accused the president of reflecting the “hateful hearts” of his voters.

“At this point,” Pavlovitz declared, “the only reason left to support a man like this is that he shares your contempt for people of color, your hostility toward outsiders, your toxic misogyny, your ignorant bigotry, and your feelings of supremacy.”

The remarks sparked outrage from conservatives, many of whom see Pavlovitz’s words as proof of how unhinged the left has become since Trump’s 2024 landslide re-election.

“This is exactly why Americans are rejecting the Democratic Party’s message,” said Charles McDowell, a conservative political strategist. “You can’t claim to be for unity when you’re calling your fellow citizens evil for voting differently.”

Pavlovitz’s comments also come as Democrats have increasingly embraced inflammatory labels against Trump and his base. Just last week, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) referred to the president as “Temu Hitler” in a televised rant — a remark Republican lawmakers blasted as “dangerous and irresponsible.”

Critics note that Pavlovitz has a history of encouraging division. In past posts, he has urged liberals to shun Trump-supporting family members and friends, arguing that “cutting them off” is the “moral” thing to do. In March, he went even further, suggesting without evidence that the 2024 election was tampered with, claiming on social media, “She won. The Dems didn’t fight for her. It’s a disgrace.”

Political observers say this rhetoric underscores the widening chasm between the far left and the rest of the country.

“When you call 74 million people ‘bad,’ you’re not trying to persuade — you’re trying to vilify,” said McDowell. “And that’s exactly what voters rejected in 2024.”

  1. John Palovitz has an opinion just like anyone else. Just follow the facts for yourself. For me I don’t agree with John P. Even Satan himself told Eve in so many words that you can’t trust God. To me, I trust Almighty God. After careful examination, I honestly believe that Donald Trump was and is the best of all the candidates to be the POTUS. No man is perfect, but I truly believe DJT loves America and has our best interests in mind.

  2. Notice that he an EX-Megachurch “Pastor”….He’s got a SEVERE case of TDS…and I bet the church shunned HIM and not Trump voters.

  3. Talk about out of touch with reality!
Donald Trump is one of the best presidents we’ve ever had!
    This ex-pastor is clueless!

  4. A progressive Christian, is one that wants to change the words and meaning of the New Testament to serve their own perverse purposes.

  5. It’s a shame that any Christian would go to the left. I don’t understand people who can’t see what is right before their eyes that they are the socialistic government the Democratic Party get yourself together follow God and follow Trump. Thank you.
