William and Kate Flee Cottage for $21M Mansion After Cancer Nightmare

Prince William and Kate Middleton are packing up their bags once again—this time for what insiders are calling a “fresh start” after one of the hardest chapters of their lives.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 43, are relocating with their three children—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—to a sprawling $21 million, eight-bedroom estate called Forest Lodge, nestled in Windsor Great Park.

The move marks a major shift from their current residence, Adelaide Cottage, where the family settled in 2022 to be close to the children’s school. While Windsor has become their home base, sources say the couple sees this new house as their “forever home” after enduring the storm of Kate’s cancer battle.

“Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind,” one royal insider told The Sun.

The couple is reportedly footing the renovation bill themselves and won’t have live-in staff—an unusually down-to-earth choice for a royal household.

Kate revealed in March 2024 that she had undergone major surgery, which led to the shocking discovery of cancer. She endured months of chemotherapy before announcing her remission this past January, though she admitted recently that post-treatment recovery has been an unexpectedly tough road.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she said last September. “Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

Now, as the family prepares to settle into Forest Lodge, the hope is that a new home will also bring healing and stability. After years of duty, upheaval, and illness, the Wales family may finally be stepping into calmer days.
