Former MSNBC Star Claims ‘Mediocre White Men’ Can’t Invent Anything

Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid is back in the headlines, lashing out at President Donald Trump, Elvis Presley, and essentially every White conservative in America. Her claim? That “mediocre White men” have never invented anything and survive only by “stealing” from Black and Brown culture.

Reid made the remarks during an appearance on left-wing commentator Wajahat Ali’s podcast, The Left Hook, in an episode titled “How Mediocre White Men and Their Fragility Are Destroying America.”

Her rant came as President Trump continues sweeping reforms at America’s cultural institutions ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Trump recently announced a patriotic reboot of the Kennedy Center Honors — removing the drag performances and “woke” content that had dominated in recent years — and ordered a review of Smithsonian exhibits that critics said painted America as nothing but slavery and oppression.

Ali framed Trump’s cultural revival as a “hostile takeover,” and Reid went even further.

“They can’t fix the history they did,” Reid said, accusing Trump of trying to erase slavery from the Smithsonian. “They can’t originally invent anything. They never could. Black folk gave y’all country music, jazz, rock, R&B, hip-hop. But they had to slap the title of ‘King’ on a White man whose biggest hit was stolen from a Black woman.”

Reid was referring to Elvis Presley’s version of Hound Dog, which was first recorded by blues singer Big Mama Thornton. Elvis, however, openly acknowledged his influences from Black musicians and fused them with country sounds to pioneer rockabilly, a style that forever changed American music.

Reid’s fiery rhetoric is nothing new. Once the face of MSNBC’s prime-time progressive programming, she was booted from the network after years of plunging ratings and controversies over racially charged comments. She has since embraced fringe podcasts to keep her profile alive.

Critics say her latest meltdown shows why even liberal media couldn’t handle her.

“She was too unhinged for MSNBC,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields told reporters. “Joyless Reid is an ungrateful hack who trashes the very country that made her success possible. She should thank America every day — instead she spits on it.”

Reid’s targeting of Elvis Presley, one of America’s most beloved entertainers, shocked even some liberals. Presley remains a cultural icon who rose from poverty in Tupelo, Mississippi, to reshape the music industry. His influence still draws millions of fans every year to Graceland and Las Vegas tribute shows.

Conservatives say lumping Elvis together with President Trump reveals the left’s broader hostility toward traditional American culture — whether it’s music, history, or patriotism.

“This isn’t about Elvis or even Trump,” said media analyst John Hammond. “It’s about the left despising anything White, Southern, or conservative. They want to tear down American icons so they can replace them with their own ideology.”

Reid also mocked conservative Americans as childish complainers. “They don’t have the intellectual rigor to actually argue with us,” she said. “What they do is tattle and tell. They run and tell teacher that ‘the Black lady was mean to me.’”

Wearing a cap promoting the controversial 1619 Project before swapping it out for one emblazoned with “FDT” (“F— Donald Trump”), Reid made it clear she has no interest in appealing to anyone outside her activist base.

With President Trump restoring patriotic pride to America’s cultural institutions, Reid’s attacks reflect a deeper divide: whether America’s 250th birthday will celebrate the nation’s triumphs or be hijacked by activists who want to rewrite its history.

As Fields put it bluntly, “Joy Reid is the best example of what Trump is saving America from.”
