Bombshell Revelations: Ex-Biden Spokesman Claims He Barely Saw the 46th President During His Two Years in Office

A stunning new interview has rocked Washington’s political establishment and reignited concerns about Joe Biden’s fitness for office during his final years in power.

Former White House spokesman Ian Sams admitted under oath that he met face-to-face with then-President Biden only twice during his more than two years working inside the administration.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) called the disclosure “one of the most shocking interviews” yet, saying it undermines the narrative Democrats pushed for years about Biden’s active leadership.

“If the president’s own spokesman never saw him, then who exactly was running the country?” Comer demanded after the explosive testimony.

Sams testified he had little direct access to Biden and often received his instructions through intermediaries. His office wasn’t even inside the West Wing — it was housed in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, effectively cutting him off from the Oval Office.

Multiple former aides confirmed to investigators that Biden relied on a small circle of advisers to make most decisions. According to excerpts from the tell-all book Original Sin by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, the Biden presidency was controlled by a tight “politburo” of unelected power brokers, including senior adviser Mike Donilon, counselor Steve Ricchetti, deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed, First Lady Jill Biden, and First Son Hunter Biden.

One former insider summed it up bluntly:

“Five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board.”

The Oversight Committee’s ongoing investigation has zeroed in on allegations that Biden’s cognitive decline was deliberately concealed from the public. Evidence suggests many executive orders and pardons during his final year in office were signed using an autopen, bypassing direct presidential approval.

Even Biden’s own national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, reportedly questioned whether the president was “politically viable” in 2024, according to testimony reviewed by the committee.

Former Chief of Staff Ron Klain and other senior aides have testified behind closed doors. Some, including Jill Biden’s top aide Anthony Bernal and Biden’s personal physician Kevin O’Connor, invoked their Fifth Amendment rights, refusing to answer key questions.

Perhaps most explosive were revelations surrounding Hunter Biden’s legal troubles. Sams reportedly told investigators he was “surprised” when Joe Biden pardoned his son after his conviction on tax and gun crimes.

Documents uncovered by the committee also show the former president quietly granted pre-emptive clemency to several Biden family members and spouses — even those who weren’t facing formal charges. The move drew outrage from Department of Justice officials at the time and has become a focal point of the investigation.

With President Donald Trump back in the White House, House Republicans have escalated their probe into what Comer calls “the biggest cover-up in modern political history.”

“Americans deserve to know who was pulling the strings,” Comer said Thursday. “If Joe Biden wasn’t making the calls, the country was being run by unelected handlers — and that should terrify every taxpayer.”

The Oversight Committee plans to interview former Biden press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, senior adviser Andrew Bates, and ex-chief of staff Jeff Zients in September.
