A 17-year-old girl named Lisa was brutally stabbed to death while cycling home in the Netherlands — moments after calling police to report that she was being followed. Her horrific final moments have left the country reeling, sparking protests, national outrage, and calls for change.
Lisa was riding her electric bike home from a night out with friends early Wednesday morning when she noticed a man trailing her. Frightened, she dialed the emergency number to report she was being followed. But before help could reach her, she was attacked and stabbed multiple times.
When officers arrived around 4:15 a.m., they found Lisa’s lifeless body in a ditch near the water’s edge along Holterbergweg, close to Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena. She had wounds to her neck and body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her bright red handbag, still dangling from her bike’s handlebars, has become a haunting symbol of her final ride.
The main suspect, a 22-year-old asylum seeker, was arrested shortly after the killing. Dutch authorities revealed that he had been detained days earlier for the alleged rape of another woman and was also accused of attempting to sexually assault a third victim just five days before Lisa’s murder.
Lisa’s death has triggered an outpouring of grief and fury across the Netherlands. A viral poem written by actress and author Nienke Gravemade captured the heartbreak of her final moments, inspiring the nationwide campaign #RechtOpDeNacht (“Right to the Night”). Thousands have joined marches and vigils, carrying signs reading, “She had dreams, no grave needed” and “Not all men, but always men.”
Over 500 people gathered in Rotterdam for a March Against Femicide, while crowds at an Ajax football match held a moving moment of silence in Lisa’s memory, raising banners with her name. Her family, devastated by the unimaginable loss, issued a statement: “Our hearts are broken. We hope we can mourn Lisa’s loss together in peace and privacy.”
Police are still piecing together Lisa’s final moments and are urgently seeking three potential witnesses seen nearby — a scooter rider, the occupants of a light-colored delivery van, and the passengers of a Biro microcar. Investigators say parts of Lisa’s cycling route remain unaccounted for in security footage and are pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
Lisa had just graduated from high school weeks before her death. Friends and teachers remember her as a bright, ambitious young woman with a promising future — a life cut short in an act of senseless violence.

Hey Netherlands 🇳🇱
how are those liberal policies working out for you?????
Ok so let me get this straight-this “asylum seeker” was detained just days before for a rape and also accused of an attempted sexual assault just 5 days before he brutally murdered this young woman? WHY WAS HE FREE TO COMMIT THIS CRIME?! Is no one questioning this insane policy? Europe better wake up – these “people” they’re allowing into their countries do not have the same moral or cultural values and will not follow their laws. Their leaders need to admit their policies are disastrous for their citizens and put a stop to this insanity before it’s too late; if it’s not already.
Islam does not assimilate, ever, as it is against Sharia law. The word Islam means submission. You will submit or they will unalive you. Netherlands needs to pull their head out of their butt and start deporting these so called ‘refugees’ while you still have a country.
