Could First Lady Melania Trump become the next American to win a Nobel Peace Prize?
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) believes it’s not only possible — she thinks it’s deserved.
During an appearance on Fox News Friday, the Florida congresswoman revealed that Melania’s behind-the-scenes role in the Trump administration’s Ukraine negotiations may make her a “key reason” peace is finally within reach.
“If the Nobel Peace Prize committee knows what’s good for them, they’ll nominate President Trump,” Luna said. “But I also believe Melania Trump has earned her own recognition. She’s been deeply involved in private discussions with Russia and could be the reason we finally broker peace with Ukraine.”
President Trump, 79, has already been formally nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize by several foreign governments — including Israel, Rwanda, Gabon, Azerbaijan, and Cambodia — as well as a wave of private individuals.
The news reignited comparisons to former President Barack Obama, who received the prize just eight months into his presidency in 2009. Critics on the right have long argued Obama’s award was unearned. Earlier this year, Donald Trump Jr. called it “the ultimate act of affirmative action.”
“Dad is actually doing the work,” Trump Jr. said in a March interview. “Obama got it for showing up.”
Earlier this month, President Trump delivered a personal letter from the First Lady to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a summit in Alaska. In the handwritten note, Melania appealed to Putin directly:
“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope,” she wrote. “In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone — you serve humanity itself.”
White House sources say Melania has been “instrumental” in laying the groundwork for private talks aimed at securing protections for Ukrainian children displaced by the ongoing war.
While Melania’s role is drawing praise, the fight for peace remains far from over. Russian strikes continue, including a deadly bombardment on Thursday that killed 23 people — four of them children — in Kyiv, according to BBC reports.
At the same time, President Trump is flexing U.S. power closer to home. The administration recently deployed warships and 4,500 troops off the coast of Venezuela as part of what the White House describes as an “anti-cartel operation.” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused Trump of preparing for “invasion,” escalating tensions in the region.
Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, directly urged the Nobel Committee to act. “There’s only one thing I wish for — that the Nobel committee finally gets its act together,” Witkoff told reporters earlier this week. “President Trump is the single finest candidate since this award was ever talked about. His leadership has reshaped the global landscape.”
Betting markets are already responding. According to Oddspedia, Trump has a 28.5% chance of winning the prize, tying him with Russian human rights activist Yulia Navalnaya.
The Nobel Committee will announce the 2025 Peace Prize winner on October 10. If Trump — and possibly Melania — clinch the award, it would mark one of the most significant political victories of the administration and a historic moment for the First Lady.
