Meghan Markle’s latest business venture might be winning over fans online, but behind palace walls, it’s the butt of a royal joke.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, recently launched her lifestyle company, As Ever, which sells everything from rosé to cookie mixes. But friends in Prince William and Kate Middleton’s inner circle apparently aren’t taking it seriously at all.
According to insiders, William and Kate’s associates have rebranded Meghan’s project themselves… by calling it “As If.” The snarky twist reportedly became a running joke among the group.
“Within William and Kate’s circle, people joked by calling it ‘As If,’ meaning they doubt it will ever succeed,” one source dished. “Everyone was laughing about it.”
Another palace insider added: “The whole venture feels poorly put together and lacking polish – honestly, it’s a bit embarrassing.”
The mocking nickname is just the latest reminder of the frosty tension between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the royal family. Since the couple’s 2020 exit from royal duties, things have only gotten worse.
From their explosive Oprah interview in 2021 to Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023, the Sussexes have made waves — while Buckingham Palace has mostly responded with silence.
King Charles, 76, has reportedly tried to patch things up with Harry in private talks, but William has steered clear, with Kate often caught in the middle.
Still, while palace insiders roll their eyes, Meghan’s fans are buying. Big time. Early batches of As Ever products, including edible flower sprinkles, jam, and cookie mix, sold out almost instantly.
Her first rosé release vanished online in under an hour, and her latest 2024 vintage is also moving fast at $30 a bottle.
Meghan even posted a video popping open “Bottle #1” to celebrate, writing: “Here we go! First bottle off the line! Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rosé is live.”
The critics may be sipping tea, but Meghan’s supporters? They’re clearly sipping her rosé.
