Sunny Hostin is once again in the hot seat after unleashing a tirade against Christians and gun owners during a recent episode of ABC’s The View.
The 55-year-old co-host, who has built a reputation for controversial commentary, claimed conservative Christians are “hypocrites” for supporting the death penalty, gun ownership, and tougher immigration laws—positions she smeared as incompatible with being “pro-life.”
But Hostin’s broadside didn’t land the way she hoped. Instead, it triggered a social media firestorm and renewed calls for ABC to rein in what critics see as an increasingly radical panel.
The View’s Sunny Hostin accuses Christians of being hypocrites: “They are pro-life but they will pull that electric chair switch, have AR-15s in their cabinet, and they don’t mind immigrant families being torn from each other. That is not pro-life.” pic.twitter.com/6HBgoh9rCu

“I’m against the death penalty in all cases,” Hostin declared to her co-hosts. “And that’s why I find there is hypocrisy with certain Christians who are pro-life, but they will pull that electric chair switch. They are pro-life, but they have their AR-15s in their cabinet. They are pro-life, but they don’t mind immigrant families being torn from each other. They are pro-life but they don’t care about little children’s subsidies being taken away.”
Hostin wrapped up her rant by flatly declaring, “That is not pro-life.”
Her comments sparked immediate pushback online, where critics blasted her for lumping millions of faithful Americans into a single caricature.
On X (formerly Twitter), users ridiculed her remarks. One wrote, “This might be the dumbest take I’ve heard in a while as it relates to pro-life.”
Another fired back with a lengthy note that went viral among conservatives:
“Dear Sunny, I am happy to explain what you are so ignorant about. People receive the death penalty after they commit a capital crime. They earn it by breaking God’s commandment, ‘THOU SHALT NOT MURDER.’ Christians own AR-15s because God gave them FREE WILL to make that choice. Christians own them, knowing they can’t violate God’s commandment ‘THOU SHALT NOT MURDER.’ You use the term immigrant dishonestly. Only illegal immigrants are being arrested because they’re violating God’s command to follow the laws mandated by government. That is what God has commanded Christians to do.”
Others were even less charitable. “This is stupidity,” one user flatly responded.
Hostin is no stranger to controversy. Earlier this year, she compared the January 6 Capitol riot to the Holocaust and slavery—remarks that drew condemnation from Jewish groups and historians alike.
“When you think about the worst moments in American history, like World War II, things that happened, like the Holocaust, chattel slavery—we need to never forget,” she said at the time, sparking outrage.
The nonprofit Stop Antisemitism called her comments “sickening,” while one CNN analyst branded them “extraordinarily unhinged and vile.”
Behind the scenes, The View has faced its own turmoil. Sources close to the production say ABC executives are increasingly concerned about the show’s shrinking audience and lack of conservative representation in 2025.
“Her co-hosts are furious she’s been so careless with her words,” one insider told Radar earlier this year. “As usual, she’s trying to be the center of attention, but she’s not doing it in a smart way.”
With advertisers pulling back and the network already under scrutiny for failing to book conservative guests, Hostin’s rhetoric is being seen as a dangerous liability at a time when President Trump and Republicans are surging in polls.
“People are tuning out,” the insider added. “If Sunny doesn’t rein it in, there may be no more show.”
Sunny Hostin’s latest remarks reveal just how out of step The View has become with mainstream America. By mocking Christians and vilifying gun owners, she’s only widening the cultural divide.
As one Republican strategist told me Friday, “Every time Hostin opens her mouth, she reminds Americans why Trump is in the White House again. She is the living, breathing example of elitist media hypocrisy.”

She’s the ultimate crackpot and a complete phony. Just another View “screamer” who chooses to shout loudly over anyone who tries to discuss anything with her. It’s the normal progressive party strategy any more. Scream as loud as you can in an effort to drown out anyone voicing a contradiction to her own cockamamie views.
Dispicab
What a disgusting show.
