Trump’s DOJ Indicts New York AG Letitia James on Bank Fraud Charges

The woman who tried to take down Trump now faces 30 years behind bars

New York Attorney General Letitia James — the Democrat who made her career attacking President Donald Trump — is now the one in serious legal trouble.

A federal grand jury in Virginia has indicted James on multiple counts of bank fraud and lying to financial institutions, charges that could put her in prison for decades.

U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, appointed by President Trump earlier this year, announced the indictment Thursday afternoon.

“No one is above the law,” Halligan said. “These acts represent criminal deceit and a betrayal of the public’s trust.”

Prosecutors say James lied on mortgage and property records to score cheaper loans — calling one investment home her “primary residence,” padding the number of apartments in a Brooklyn building, and even listing herself as her own father’s spouse on one loan application.

Investigators say the alleged scheme gave her special loan terms ordinary Americans could never get.

A whistleblower at the Federal Housing Finance Agency first raised red flags in 2024, accusing James of the same “financial deception” she claimed to have uncovered in Trump’s business records.

James shot to national fame by suing the Trump Organization in 2022, winning a civil case that slapped the president with multimillion-dollar penalties.

Now she’s the one standing in court — and her critics are calling it karma.

“It’s poetic justice,” said former federal prosecutor Mark Latham. “She built her career calling Trump a fraud. Turns out, the fraud may have been her own.”

James didn’t hold back in her response.

“This is political retribution at any cost,” she said in a fiery statement. “The President fired a U.S. Attorney who refused to indict me and replaced them with a loyalist. This is not justice — it’s revenge.”

She vowed to fight the charges, invoking faith over fear.

“I am fearless,” she said. “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul blasted the indictment as “the weaponization of the DOJ.”
Sen. Chuck Schumer called it “tyranny,” accusing Trump of turning prosecutors into “attack dogs.”

But Republicans see something else — accountability.

“Letitia James abused her office to destroy Trump,” said Rep. Elise Stefanik. “Now she’s facing justice for her own corruption. Poetic doesn’t even begin to cover it.”

President Trump couldn’t resist.

Within hours, he posted on Truth Social:

“JUSTICE FINALLY! Letitia James tried to ruin me. Now she’s being held accountable. The witch hunt has come full circle!”

Sources close to the White House told reporters Trump views the case as a turning point in cleaning up political corruption that ran unchecked during the Biden years.

James is due in federal court in Norfolk on October 24. If convicted, she could lose her office, her law license — and her freedom.

The once-fearless crusader who boasted of “taking down Trump” now finds herself at the mercy of the justice system she once weaponized.

For Trump supporters, it’s simple: justice served.

For Democrats, it’s panic mode.

And for Letitia James — it’s the fight of her life.

  2. Like Letitia was so fond of saying, no one is above the law. She’s done her part on behalf of the progressives by taking the image of our courts to a new low.
