Privately Funded, Zero Taxpayer Dollars — But Democrats Are Fuming Anyway
The bulldozers are roaring and the liberal tears are flowing.
President Donald J. Trump officially broke ground this week on a grand new White House Ballroom — a massive, privately funded addition that’s set to become one of the most iconic upgrades to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in over a century. But while Trump supporters are celebrating the move as a long-overdue modernization of the People’s House, Hillary Clinton and her allies are throwing a full-blown tantrum.
“It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it,” Clinton fumed in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reacting to images of the East Wing’s facelift.
The irony? Not a single cent of taxpayer money is being used. The estimated $200 million project is being paid for entirely through private donations — led by American patriots, iconic companies, and yes, the president himself.
In a statement on Truth Social, President Trump emphasized the significance of the moment.
“I am pleased to announce that ground has been broken on the White House grounds to build the new, big, beautiful White House Ballroom,” he wrote. “For more than 150 years, every president has dreamed of having a proper ballroom for State functions. I’m proud to be the first to deliver it — at zero cost to taxpayers.”
The 90,000-square-foot space will seat up to 650 guests and will allow the U.S. to host international leaders, veterans, Gold Star families, and major ceremonies without relying on “ugly rented tents,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
“We’re creating a permanent space that honors American excellence,” Leavitt added. “The days of plastic chairs under a canvas tarp are over.”
Despite the ballroom being fully funded by private donors, prominent Democrats are publicly melting down.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren mocked the renovation, posting, “Oh you’re trying to say the cost of living is skyrocketing? Donald Trump can’t hear you over the bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House.”
Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ) called the privately-funded project “disgusting,” sharing a photo of his family in front of the former facade. “We didn’t need a billionaire-funded ballroom to celebrate America,” he posted.
But supporters say that kind of rhetoric is exactly why Trump won re-election in 2024.
“It’s the same old jealousy from the Clinton crowd,” said retired General Mark Richardson. “Trump gets things done. He doesn’t wait for bureaucrats or complain about optics — he leads.”
Presidents as far back as Ulysses S. Grant have floated the idea of expanding the White House with a ballroom. None succeeded. Until now.
“This ballroom won’t just host galas,” said historian Laura Whitman. “It’ll be the backdrop to historic state dinners, Medal of Honor ceremonies, and pivotal global summits.”
And Trump is just getting started. The ballroom follows his earlier 2025 updates to the Rose Garden and the installation of two towering 88-foot flagpoles, which now flank the executive mansion.
Some GOP insiders believe Clinton’s attacks have more to do with 2028 than interior design.
“This is Hillary’s way of testing the waters for one last ride,” said strategist Grant Miller. “She knows Trump is reshaping the physical White House — and the political landscape — in ways Democrats can’t stop.”
Whether the ballroom becomes a symbol of Trump’s enduring legacy or another trigger for the left, one thing is clear: he’s not backing down.
“The People’s House deserves grandeur,” Trump said. “And that’s exactly what we’re building.”

Hillary didn’t mind toting off everything that wasn’t nailed down when she and Bill exited the White House. All of which belonged to the American people. Hypocrite, traitor, and manic hater of America is all she is. She should shut up and go away.
This coming from the woman who stole precious artifacts from the White House? Her and her sex starved husband had to return massive amounts of purloined historic items when they left the White House. Time these flim flam people moved into assisted living and tried to retire with some sort of dignity, even if she isn’t capable of it.
