Biden and Obama Relationship Deteriorated, ‘Really Bad’ After Election

Former President Barack Obama and ex-President Joe Biden can’t even stand to share a restaurant—literally.

That’s according to ABC News veteran Jonathan Karl, who appeared on Katie Couric’s podcast this week to dish on what he called the “complete breakdown” of one of the most celebrated political bromances in American history.

“They didn’t interact at all,” Karl revealed. “They were in the same restaurant—Café Milano—but not a word, not even eye contact.”

Once hailed as the dynamic duo of the Democratic Party, Obama and Biden are now barely on speaking terms.

“Really bad. Really bad,” Karl emphasized, describing their relationship as beyond repair since the disastrous 2024 election that saw President Trump defeat Biden in a historic comeback.

Behind the scenes, tensions have been simmering for years. But insiders say the fallout escalated sharply after Obama allegedly pressured Biden to step aside during the summer of 2024 to make way for Kamala Harris—a move that infuriated the Biden camp, including Biden’s son, Hunter.

“Hunter Biden was furious,” Karl said, referring to an awkward moment at a fundraiser when Obama took Joe Biden’s arm to guide him offstage—an image that made the president appear weak and senile at a time when Democrats were insisting he was still fit to serve.

The tension turned into silence.

After Biden abruptly exited the 2024 race, handing the torch to Harris (a move that ultimately failed to stop Trump’s victory), he reportedly made a flurry of endorsement calls—but none to Obama.

“I was astounded,” Karl said. “Biden didn’t even call the man who made his presidency possible. Obama tried to reach out. Biden wouldn’t even take the call.”

The two former presidents didn’t speak for weeks, according to Karl’s sources.

“So dysfunctional,” Couric responded in disbelief.

Karl’s revelations come as he promotes his new book “Retribution,” a behind-the-scenes chronicle of the chaotic Democratic implosion that led to Trump’s second-term victory.

The book alleges that internal backstabbing, personal grudges, and generational power struggles destroyed the Democrats from within—leaving the party fractured and leaderless just months before the 2026 midterms.

Obama’s push to install Kamala Harris as Biden’s replacement backfired spectacularly. Many centrist Democrats saw her as “unelectable,” and the grassroots never warmed to her campaign.

“Obama thought Harris could unite the base. Instead, she alienated independents and suburban voters,” one strategist said anonymously.

Fox News Digital reached out to both Obama and Biden’s offices. No response. No denial. Silence speaks volumes.

With midterm chaos looming and President Trump riding high in the polls, the Democratic civil war shows no signs of cooling off.
