President Donald Trump lit up Detroit on Tuesday night, unleashing one of his most explosive attacks yet on former President Joe Biden. The president claimed Biden delivered an official White House speech while “high as a kite” and “floating” through his remarks, stunning the packed crowd at the Detroit Economic Club.
Trump didn’t ease into it. He went straight for the jugular.
“Joe wasn’t just confused,” Trump said. “He was high. High as a kite. You could see it. He was floating up there.”
The crowd erupted. Some gasped. Others cheered like they were watching a heavyweight knockout.
Trump described the moment in vivid detail.
“They had him spruced up pretty good,” he said. “Propped up. Juiced. Whatever they did, it wasn’t natural. And it was still a really bad speech.”
Trump leaned forward and added, “That’s what they were letting run the country. Think about that.”
A Michigan voter in the crowd shouted, “Never again!” Trump smiled.
Trump also mocked Biden’s dependence on teleprompters, bragging that he barely uses one himself.
“I go off script,” Trump said. “Eighty percent of the time. Biden couldn’t last eight seconds without one.”
The audience roared. Several attendees waved miniature American flags. One lifelong Republican told us, “Trump sounds alive. Biden always sounded sedated.”
Then Trump delivered a brutal impression of Biden that had the room howling.
He reenacted Biden coughing into the microphone before speeches. He mimicked Biden’s halting delivery. He even recreated Biden’s infamous whisper voice.
“State of the Union,” Trump said, pausing dramatically. He let out a heavy, rattling cough. “Ladies and gentlemen…” he croaked.
People were wiping tears of laughter from their eyes.
Trump wasn’t done.
“His speeches were like 12 seconds long,” he said. “Nobody knew what he was talking about. I don’t think he knew either.”
Trump insisted Biden showed clear signs of impairment while in office.
“He was gone,” Trump said. “Completely gone. And the media covered for him. They covered for him every single day.”
One attendee, a retired auto worker, shook his head. “We all saw it. Trump’s just the first one with the guts to say it.”
Even though Biden has kept a low profile since leaving the White House in 2025 to battle an aggressive cancer, he remains Trump’s favorite political punching bag.
Trump constantly compares himself to Biden. Constantly revisits Biden’s gaffes. Constantly reminds voters what the country looked like under the Democrat’s watch.
“Joe Biden was the worst thing that ever happened to seniors,” Trump said in a recent New York Times interview. “He wrecked the economy for them.”
The president also dismissed age concerns surrounding his own leadership.
“I feel the same as I did 40 years ago,” Trump said Tuesday. “Actually, maybe stronger.”
Biden’s circle has refused to comment on Trump’s latest allegations. A former adviser, speaking privately, simply said, “We’re focusing on the former president’s health.”
But Trump supporters say they know the truth.
“We lived through it,” a woman in the Detroit crowd said. “We saw Biden stumbling, mumbling, whispering, wandering. Trump is just putting words to what America watched.”
