Bill Gates is slamming a new wave of claims pulled from the government’s unprecedented release of Jeffrey Epstein files—calling the suggestion that he contracted a sexually transmitted disease from “Russian girls” nothing more than a fantasy created by a man desperate for leverage.
“This is absolutely absurd and completely false,” a spokesperson for Gates told reporters, insisting the tech billionaire is once again being dragged into the orbit of a dead sex offender he barely knew.
The U.S. Department of Justice has now published more than three million pages, 180,000 images, and 2,000 videos connected to the Epstein investigation. The release—required under last year’s transparency law—marks one of the largest public disclosures in DOJ history.
Officials warn that many of the documents include raw, unverified claims made by tipsters, accusers, and even Epstein himself. The DOJ admitted that some of the accusations included in the trove were “untrue and sensationalist,” but were still required to be released for the sake of transparency.
“These documents include everything submitted to the FBI,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said. “Some of it is false. Some of it is bizarre. But the law requires us to make it public.”
Two drafts found in Epstein’s email account sparked the renewed attention. Both were messages Epstein wrote to himself in July 2013. There is no sign they were ever sent. None were addressed from, to, or involving Bill Gates’ actual accounts.
One draft is styled as a resignation letter from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It claims Gates needed medication “to deal with the consequences of sex with Russian girls.” Another draft opens with “dear Bill,” accusing Gates of ending their friendship and hiding a sexually transmitted disease from his then-wife, Melinda.
The emails contain no evidence. No signatures. And no connection to Gates beyond Epstein typing his name.
Gates’ representatives say the drafts are nothing more than the ramblings of a man trying—and failing—to reestablish influence with one of the world’s richest people.
“These allegations come from a proven, disgruntled liar,” the spokesperson said. “The emails show only Epstein’s frustration and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame.”
A person close to Gates added that Epstein repeatedly overstated his relationship with the Microsoft co-founder. “Epstein wanted to appear connected to powerful people. Bill wasn’t interested. Epstein hated that.”
The newly published records span more than a decade of investigations. They include details on Epstein’s prison stays, his 2019 death, allegations involving longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and communications with public officials, celebrities, and philanthropists around the world.
The DOJ cautioned that the cache contains everything—real, fake, forged, and anonymous.
“In some cases, pornographic images were redacted,” the department noted. “Others were left intact because all women pictured were considered victims.”
The files also include false claims made about political figures, including accusations against Donald Trump that the Department bluntly labeled “unfounded.”
The release is already triggering questions on Capitol Hill. Representative Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, is demanding answers about why only 3.5 million of the more than 6 million pages identified were actually released.
“This raises questions as to why the rest are being withheld,” Khanna said.
Congress may soon ask the DOJ to explain the redactions and missing materials. Legal experts warn that high-profile figures named in the files—whether fairly or not—will now face a wave of speculation, regardless of the truth.
As for Gates, his team says the record speaks for itself.
“The only thing these documents demonstrate,” the spokesperson said, “is that Epstein was willing to say anything to get Bill’s attention. And Bill wanted nothing to do with him.”
