A longtime adviser to Bill Gates privately described the billionaire as “very gross” in text messages to Jeffrey Epstein — raising new questions about the Microsoft founder’s behavior and the real nature of his ties to the disgraced financier.
The messages, released in the Justice Department’s January 30, 2026 document dump, show senior Gates Foundation figure Melanie Walker venting to Epstein repeatedly about her boss. The texts were sent years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction and long after top Democrats and media outlets insisted Gates’ association with him was merely “professional.”
But the newly surfaced exchanges tell a very different story.
In a July 2017 text — nine years after Epstein’s child-prostitution conviction — Walker appeared to be at a breaking point.
“BG has been a huge distraction. And I feel so trapped,” she wrote.
“He’s very gross you have no idea. Not the person ppl think.”
The number she was texting is confirmed in FBI files as belonging to Epstein.
Investigators say the conversation fits a broader pattern in the 3 million pages of files released — a pattern showing Gates’ staff privately confiding in Epstein about internal tensions, frustrations, and even fears.
One of the most explosive revelations came from a 2013 email Epstein sent to himself, in which he claimed Gates asked for antibiotics he could “surreptitiously give” to his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.
The email also alleges Gates had contracted an STD after being with “Russian girls.”
Gates has vehemently denied the accusation, calling Epstein’s note “fake” and “absurd.” But when asked directly about the allegations of being secretly given medication, French Gates said in a statement that she felt “unbelievable sadness,” adding:
“He needs to answer to these things. Fully.”
The comments mark one of the sharpest public rebukes from French Gates since the couple divorced.
Another set of documents released in December showed Gates posing with a woman whose face was redacted by federal authorities.
Officials would not clarify whether she is tied to Epstein’s network of victims.
The image has fueled speculation that the Gates-Epstein connection was deeper — and more personal — than previously acknowledged.
In an October 2018 exchange, Walker hinted that the billionaire might be headed toward a reckoning.
Reacting to a news article about Gates being the sole investor in a project run by a favored employee, she unloaded:
“Makes me so angry… Wasting 15 years based on his promises for promotion and support and nothing.”
She then delivered the pointed warning:
“I still have all my clothing in ziplock bags, so I suspect if I get to a breaking point or a group of people #metoo him I can join.”
Epstein replied that her treatment was “soo unfair,” signaling his ongoing role as her sounding board.
In another 2019 message, Walker told Epstein that her involvement in any new project had been shut down because Melinda considered her a “risk.”
Epstein shot back:
“Doesn’t seem to have stopped him having you around. That is total nonsense.”
The message again shows Epstein presenting himself as a confidant inside Gates’ personal orbit.
Gates has long been celebrated for his enormous charitable giving — nearly $100 billion donated through the Gates Foundation. He even received an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 2005 for his global health and education efforts.
But 2026 is proving to be a turning point.
Under President Trump, the renewed push for transparency around Epstein’s network has placed Gates under a harsher spotlight than ever. While he maintains he “never met any women through Epstein,” Republicans in Congress are already signaling interest in public hearings.
One senior GOP aide told us:
“The American people deserve to know whether one of the richest men on earth was protected by institutions that looked the other way. Those days are over.”
For now, Gates continues to deny every allegation. But the text messages — and the adviser’s candid remarks — paint a picture that is increasingly difficult for his defenders to explain.
