The View turned into a full-blown shouting match Wednesday when Whoopi Goldberg went after ICE agents for covering their faces — and Elisabeth Hasselbeck came back swinging with a savage jab that left the audience stunned.
The fiery clash exploded during a discussion about immigration enforcement, as Whoopi criticized federal agents for approaching people in public while hiding behind masks. But before she could fully make her point, Hasselbeck pounced with a blistering comeback that dragged Democrats straight back into the COVID wars.
Hasselbeck fired off that Democrats were the real “party of masks,” accusing them of forcing face coverings on Americans during the pandemic and making it clear she had zero patience for the outrage now.
“Like I don’t want to hear, ‘You can’t see my face.’ I just can’t. I love you, but I can’t,” she told Whoopi, in a line that instantly sent shockwaves through the studio.
The crowd could be heard reacting as the exchange grew more heated, with the two women talking over each other in a tense back-and-forth that quickly became one of the most explosive moments of the segment.
Whoopi tried to yank the conversation back to the issue at hand, saying she was specifically talking about the current immigration crackdown and agents carrying out raids, including incidents involving parents simply taking their kids to school.
