Kamala Harris Divorce Rumors Erupt as She Eyes Another White House Run

Kamala Harris may be thinking about another run for the White House, but now her marriage is facing a round of uncomfortable questions.

The former vice president and her husband, Doug Emhoff, are being hit with fresh speculation that they are living increasingly separate lives after the pair missed several high-profile events together.

The chatter comes as Harris, 61, attempts to stay politically relevant following her 2024 loss to President Donald Trump. She has spent much of the past eight months traveling for her memoir, 107 Days, while also openly teasing the possibility of another presidential campaign in 2028.

Emhoff, also 61, recently received a humanitarian award from the Inner City Law Center in Los Angeles on May 20 for his public service and legal advocacy work. But Harris was reportedly nowhere to be seen.

The absence raised eyebrows, especially because Emhoff did show up weeks earlier when Harris spoke at the Public Counsel’s William O. Douglas Award Dinner on April 29.

Emhoff, an entertainment lawyer, currently works as a litigation partner at the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher. But his public image has been battered in recent years by controversy, making the renewed attention on his marriage even more intense.

Harris, meanwhile, has been trying to rebuild her national profile after her failed presidential campaign. Her memoir focused on the 107 days she spent running for president in 2024 after Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

She announced in July 2025 that she would not run for California governor, but she has not closed the door on another presidential bid.

In April, Harris told Rev. Al Sharpton at the National Action Network convention that she was still considering it.

“Listen, I might. I might. I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking about it,” Harris said. “I know what the job is and what it requires. I’ll keep you posted.”

That was enough to reignite talk that Harris could try again in 2028, despite her brutal 2024 defeat and lingering questions about whether Democrats actually want her back at the top of the ticket.

Now, social media users are asking a different question.

Are Harris and Emhoff heading for a split?

After one user on X asked whether the two were getting divorced, critics quickly jumped in.

“I mean, could you live with that cackle?” one person wrote, mocking Harris’ infamous laugh.

“Nah, she needs Dougie for her 2028 run,” another added.

A third critic was even harsher, writing, “Personally, I wish they would just disappear into obscurity.”

Still, the couple has made at least one major move together. Harris and Emhoff purchased an $8.15 million mansion in Malibu in January after leaving Washington, D.C., and returning to California.

The 4,000-square-foot home sits in the exclusive Point Dume area and includes four bedrooms and six bathrooms. The couple had previously lived in Emhoff’s Brentwood home, which he bought in 2012 before marrying Harris in 2014.

According to one insider, the Malibu home offers more privacy and is easier to secure than the Brentwood property, which sits closer to the street.

Harris and Emhoff were also seen walking together near the beach in Malibu on May 6, suggesting that whatever is happening behind the scenes, they are still presenting a united front in public.

They also posted affectionate messages for Valentine’s Day earlier this year.

“Happy Valentine’s Day to my husband, who shows up for me every step of the way. I love you so very much, Dougie,” Harris wrote.

Emhoff shared a photo of the two together over dinner and wrote, “Love you very much.”

The couple also recently celebrated Emhoff’s daughter and Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, on her 27th birthday.

“Happy birthday to our darling @ellaemhoff. We love you so much and are so proud of you! Love, Dad and Momala,” they wrote.

For now, Harris and Emhoff have not publicly addressed the split rumors. But with Harris once again floating a possible presidential campaign, every public appearance, every missing spouse moment, and every social media whisper is being watched closely.

And if Harris really is planning another run for president, the last thing she needs is a new round of personal drama following her back onto the national stage.

  1. Harris is a low IQ fool to believe that the American voters would ever consider her for dog catcher let alone President.
