Elderly Woman Stabbed in Neck While Waiting for Uber After Stranger’s Creepy Greeting

A 75-year-old woman was waiting for an Uber on a Brooklyn street when a frightening encounter with a stranger suddenly turned violent, police said.

The attack happened around 11:25 a.m. Sunday near Glenmore and Christopher avenues in Brownsville, according to authorities.

The victim was standing outside waiting for her ride when 36-year-old Shawnee Moore allegedly approached her and gave an eerie greeting, sources said. Moore reportedly grunted “hello” before the situation exploded.

Moments later, police said, Moore struck the unsuspecting woman with a stick and stabbed her in the neck with a knife.

The elderly victim was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

Moore, who police said is homeless, was arrested a short time after the attack. Authorities said a witness helped officers identify Moore near the scene.

Moore was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person.

The horrifying attack was not Moore’s first run-in with police, according to authorities.

Police said Moore has three prior arrests, including another alleged random attack that took place just months earlier.

In November 2025, Moore was arrested for allegedly showing up at a stranger’s Brooklyn address in violation of an order of protection, police said.

Two months before that, Moore allegedly sprayed hairspray on a 52-year-old man inside a nail salon on Mother Gaston Boulevard, sparking a fire that burned the man’s face, according to police.

Sources said that victim was also a stranger, and the assault appeared to be unprovoked.

Moore’s first arrest dates back to May 2014, when police said Moore was busted in Brooklyn on gun and drug possession charges.

The latest attack has rattled the Brownsville neighborhood, where an elderly woman simply waiting for a ride was allegedly targeted in broad daylight by a stranger with a violent history.

  1. In Mamdani”s NYC it will be judged that it’s the woman’s fault for being where she was at the time of the incident, and Moore should be set free and probably receive some monetary compensation for the strain and inconvenience he has had to suffer by being arrested. And he’ll be looking into possible punishment for those officers and that private citizen who assisted in his arrest.

  2. This perp lime all violent criminals needs to receive the death penalty . The word needs to get out to these low IQ savages that by committing these heinous acts , you will lose ur life .

  3. What is going on?
I agree that the perpetrator needs to lose his life, and the word goes out to other perpetrators!
