Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Skips Court Appearance

Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was nowhere to be seen in court Friday as his high-powered attorney entered a not guilty plea for him in a California hit-and-run case.

Pelosi’s case was called in a Napa County courtroom after he was charged with one misdemeanor count of hit-and-run driving and cited for an unlawful turning movement stemming from a Fourth of July weekend crash.

Instead of appearing himself, Pelosi was represented by attorney Amanda Bevins, who entered the not guilty plea on his behalf.

The charges stem from a July 3 crash in Yountville, where authorities say Pelosi’s brown convertible struck a parked Tesla before leaving the scene.

Photos obtained by The California Post showed significant damage to the Tesla, including dents and scrapes along the driver’s-side rear.

According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 6700 block of Yount Street after a witness reported seeing a northbound vehicle rear-end a parked car with enough force to push one of its tires onto the curb.

The witness told investigators the driver stopped briefly before taking off.

Deputies later located Pelosi nearby, partially blocking Yountville Cross Road in his heavily damaged convertible.

Pelosi reportedly told investigators that he knew he had hit something but did not realize what he had struck. He said he continued driving until his damaged vehicle became disabled.

Authorities said alcohol was not a factor. A preliminary screening showed Pelosi had a blood-alcohol level of 0.00.

Following the crash, a spokesperson for Pelosi and his wife said he had apologized directly to the owner of the damaged vehicle.

“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” the spokesperson said.

Still, the courtroom no-show is likely to draw attention given Pelosi’s prominent political family and his previous run-in with the law in Napa County.

In May 2022, Pelosi was arrested for DUI after another crash in the area. He had been driving home from a dinner in Oakville when his Porsche collided with another vehicle.

Pelosi later pleaded guilty in that case.

Now, four years later, the husband of one of the Democratic Party’s most powerful figures is once again facing a criminal traffic case in wine country — this time accused of hitting a parked vehicle and driving away.
