‘View’ Host Exposes Fox News Star Who Called Her ‘Not Smart’

“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin says a former boss delivered a cutting insult that stayed with her for years — but she stopped just short of revealing exactly who said it.

Farah Griffin, 37, shared the story during Thursday’s episode of the ABC daytime show while the panel was discussing the lasting impact harsh criticism can have.

She said she once worked for a boss who “will remain nameless” but who “may be a Fox News host.”

According to Farah Griffin, the person told her: “Alyssa, you’re a pretty girl, you’re a nice girl, but you’re not bleep-ing smart.”

Farah Griffin said the remark “stuck in my head” for years.

“I will not say who it was, but y’all can guess,” she added.

Her carefully worded clue immediately raised questions about the identity of the former boss.

Farah Griffin previously worked as a producer on conservative commentator Laura Ingraham’s radio program, “The Laura Ingraham Show,” in 2010 and 2011, according to reporting cited by Entertainment Weekly. Ingraham now hosts “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News.

However, Farah Griffin never named Ingraham during the segment, so any suggestion that Ingraham was the person behind the remark remains speculation.

Entertainment Weekly said it reached out to representatives for Ingraham, Fox News and Farah Griffin for additional comment.

The conversation did not begin with Fox News.

The “View” panel was discussing criticism in the workplace after actor Julia Stiles publicly revisited an old remark from Andy Cohen about her dancing.

Stiles, who joined the latest season of “Dancing With the Stars,” said a past comment from Cohen about her abilities had remained “imprinted” in her mind.

Cohen had questioned Stiles’ dancing during a 2025 interview about her 2001 movie “Save the Last Dance.”

After Stiles referenced the comment during “Dancing With the Stars,” Cohen publicly apologized, jokingly naming himself his own “Jackhole of the Day” on “Watch What Happens Live” and admitting he was hardly in a position to judge someone else’s dancing.

That discussion prompted Farah Griffin to reveal that she had carried around a similarly painful comment from one of her own former bosses.

Her career since that alleged exchange has included some of the most prominent communications jobs in Washington.

ABC’s official biography says Farah Griffin served in senior communications positions for the vice president, the Defense Department and the White House between 2017 and 2020. From March through December 2020, she served as White House communications director and assistant to then-President Donald Trump.

She later moved into television and became a permanent co-host of “The View” in 2022. ABC described her at the time as bringing a conservative perspective to the panel.

She also works as a CNN political commentator.

Farah Griffin has since publicly broken with Trump on a number of issues and frequently discusses politics from the conservative seat on “The View.”

ABC’s current cast biography notes that she has also taught as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.

That résumé gave her Thursday admission an added twist: the woman who would later become a White House communications director and nationally televised political commentator says that, early in her career, a boss bluntly told her she simply was not smart enough.

Farah Griffin did not disclose when the alleged conversation occurred, and she has not publicly identified the person she was talking about.

For now, she appears content to leave viewers with the clue she offered on air.
