Disney’s Character Suffers Terrifying Stunt Gone Wrong (Video)

A magical Disney On Ice performance turned into a frightening scene when a skater portraying Ariel from The Little Mermaid crashed onto the rink during a dangerous spinning stunt, leaving horrified audience members gasping.

The shocking moment, captured in a video circulating on TikTok, shows the beloved Disney princess performing an elaborate routine with Prince Eric when a high-risk maneuver known as the “headbanger” suddenly goes wrong.

As the crowd cheers, the male performer lifts his partner by one leg and begins spinning her in sweeping circles close to the ice. But within seconds, the routine takes a terrifying turn as he appears to lose control, sending Ariel crashing onto the frozen surface before falling himself.

Gasps erupt from the audience as the skater lands heavily and immediately curls up, clutching her head. Her partner quickly scrambles to her side while she remains on the ice, appearing visibly shaken by the impact.

For several tense moments, the performance comes to a halt. The injured skater eventually manages to sit upright before Prince Eric helps her back onto her feet. The pair then skate off together, briefly turning to wave at the crowd.

The video, shared by TikTok user PlanoPlaysGames, sparked alarm online as viewers questioned how seriously the performer might have been hurt.

“He almost bashed her head on the ice omg,” one viewer wrote, prompting another to respond, “He did.”

“That actually looked BAD,” another commenter added.

Although the performer was able to leave the rink with assistance, her identity, the location and date of the accident, and the extent of any injuries have not been publicly confirmed. It also remains unclear whether she required medical treatment.

The frightening fall has drawn renewed attention to the risks of professional ice skating, particularly the dramatic lifts and spinning maneuvers that have become staples of Disney On Ice productions.

The headbanger, also known as a bounce spin, is a demanding pairs-skating element in which one partner swings the other in a circular motion, bringing the lifted skater’s head extremely close to the ice. The move requires precise timing, strength and coordination, leaving little room for error.

The latest scare also brings back memories of a serious Disney On Ice accident in February 2024, when professional skater Anastasia Olson was hospitalized after a similar lift went wrong during a performance at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Olson, who was portraying Belle from Beauty and the Beast, suffered a serious fall during a morning show on February 10. Witnesses described the lift as appearing unstable moments before she struck the ice.

She was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, where her condition was initially reported as critical before improving over the following days. The show continued after she received medical attention.

Olson later reassured concerned families that she was recovering and thanked supporters for helping her through the ordeal. She eventually returned to performing, appearing as Belle again in October 2025.

For the audience watching Ariel’s latest routine, what began as a dazzling display of Disney magic ended with an unexpected reminder of the physical risks performers take to bring those beloved characters to life.

Editorial note: I kept the headline dramatic but avoided claiming a confirmed head injury, hospitalization, or a specific audience size. The current incident is documented in published reports, but I could not independently establish the skater’s medical condition or the venue. The 2024 Olson accident and subsequent improvement were corroborated by contemporaneous reporting. Internewscast+2
