Meghan Markle Slammed by Respected Journalist

Prince Harry was a “lamb to the slaughter” in his relationship with Meghan Markle, following her “like a child,” according to renown editor and journalist Tina Brown.

In an interview with The Ankler podcast, Brown borrowed the phrase Princess Diana once used to describe her vulnerability before marrying King Charles III, and she applied it to Harry’s situation.

Brown, the author of The Palace Papers, claimed that Meghan convinced Harry she was a “savvy Hollywood wheeler dealer who could make them stars.” However, in Brown’s view, Meghan’s judgment has been questionable. “She’s flawless about getting it all wrong,” Brown said, adding, “She really is a perfectionist about getting it all wrong.”

Brown, who once served as editor for Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, has vast experience in the media industry and is preparing to launch her own Substack newsletter titled “Fresh Hell.” In the interview, she voiced regret over the Sussexes’ exit from the royal family, suggesting that Prince Harry could have still been a valuable asset to the monarchy.

Brown explained, “When Harry goes on these foreign trips, he’s just really good at it. He’s charming, he’s funny, he’s sweet. It’s sad that he can’t go back and play that role in England, which is desperately needed. The monarchy has slimmed down so much that now it’s practically anorexic.”

This “slimmed-down monarchy” that Brown references is a concept that King Charles III, long before becoming king, had openly advocated. However, Brown now believes that the reduction has gone too far. She pointed out that key members of the family are shouldering immense burdens: “Charles has had health issues, Kate went through a terrible health scare herself, and William is under constant pressure.”

Brown also touched on the strained relationship between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William. She remarked, “The problem is that Harry upstages William, and there’s no doubt about that. The animosity between them is such that I don’t think William would ever want Harry back.”

Discussing Harry’s future, Brown was skeptical about his long-term relationship with Meghan. “I think he’s pretty much in the thrall of Meghan,” she said. “She persuaded him that she was this savvy Hollywood wheeler dealer, and he just blindly followed her.”

Brown has spoken about her insights into the royals in her book The Palace Papers: Inside The House of Windsor. Reflecting on Harry’s potential future, she noted, “Harry will always be Prince Harry, the grandson of the Queen and son of Diana. He could make a comeback. But I think the British people would only welcome him if he returned alone.”

In a candid aside, Brown also discussed her own career, including her ill-fated decision to partner with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein on the short-lived Talk magazine. She humorously remarked, “In probably the dumbest career move of anybody’s life, I left The New Yorker to go into business with Harvey.”

Looking ahead to the U.S. political scene, Brown speculated on the upcoming election, hinting that she believes Donald Trump may win. Her new Substack will cover a wide range of topics, blending her sharp observations with personal experiences.
