The dance move that mimics President-elect Donald Trump’s signature celebratory shuffle is taking the sports world by storm. From the NFL to the UFC, athletes are breaking into the move after big plays, touchdowns, and even championship victories.
Despite the political undertones of its inspiration, the NFL has no plans to penalize players for performing the viral dance.
NFL Greenlights the Trend
“There’s no issue with a celebratory dance such as what took place [Sunday] or the previous week with the 49ers on Nov. 10,” an NFL spokesperson told Front Office Sports. “It’s up to the networks to cover them as they see fit.”
The spokesperson clarified that while the NFL prohibits players from making overt political statements, it does not view the Trump-inspired dance as political. “Typically, we allow celebrations that are not deemed excessive or inappropriate,” they said.
How the ‘Trump Dance’ Began
The craze began just after Trump’s election victory. It gained momentum when UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones performed the move at Madison Square Garden after his TKO win over Stipe Miocic on Saturday night. Trump, seated ringside, watched as Jones mimicked his famous steps, drawing cheers from the crowd.
The next day, the NFL picked up the baton. Raiders tight end Brock Bowers broke out the dance after a touchdown, followed by Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Even 49ers star Nick Bosa joined the movement earlier in November, though his choice to wear a “Make America Great Again” hat during a game landed him a $11,255 fine.
“I’ve seen everyone do it,” Bowers said after his touchdown celebration. “I watched the UFC fight last night, and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC, so I saw it and thought it was cool.”
Media and Social Buzz
The dance hasn’t just caught fire on the field—it’s ignited conversations on social media. Trump himself fueled the trend, posting a montage of NFL players performing the dance with the caption: “TRUMP DANCE SWEEPS THE NATION.”
However, some networks have opted not to showcase the move. CBS, for instance, panned away from Bowers mid-dance during its broadcast and excluded it from highlight clips posted on social media.
“It’s up to the networks to cover them as they see fit,” the NFL reiterated when questioned about the coverage.
Celebration or Controversy?
While the NFL views the dance as harmless fun, it has sparked debates among fans and analysts. Critics argue that the trend blurs the lines between sports and politics, especially given its inspiration. Supporters counter that it’s simply a lighthearted celebration that has captivated fans across the country.
As for Trump, he seems thrilled by the phenomenon, embracing it as a cultural nod to his unique style. Videos of the dance continue to spread, with athletes and fans alike adding their own flair.
For now, the “Trump Dance” shows no signs of slowing down, proving that in the world of sports, even a political figure’s signature moves can take on a life of their own.

Critics argue that Trump Dance “blurs the line between sports and politics.” But apparently, those “critics” (whoever they may be) had no problem with players taking a knee rather than stand for the National Anthem? There you go. The left hates. Period. They just hate. All I can think of to reply to them is F**k You! Why don’t you move to some country where politics controls sports!
Of course, CBS would be one of the detractors of a Trump dance. The network just does not get it, it will continue to thwart anything conservative regardless of its harmlessness. ABC, CBS, NBC all the old networks who have been taken over by communists can’t stand the results of November 5th election and will go down flams showing their far leftist leaning networks political bent. People are ignoring them for the most part, they should just chill and stop trying to stop people’s happiness in the same election outcome.
WHY? Let them have some fun!
I think President Trump\’s dance is awesome. Nobody cares if msm likes it or not.
Do the dance. Fight , Fight, Fifht. Who cares if the networks don’t like it.
I don’t like the lying networks!! IT’s payback time, big time!!!
They ban it cause Dems own those old networks
I think it is fine I enjoy seeing people having fun. I don’t care about any of the stupid nitwits networks. TV use to be informative, now far left biased.
