Dan Bongino For Secret Service Director?

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has thrown his support behind former Secret Service agent and conservative media figure Dan Bongino to lead the Federal Protective Service. Speaking on podcaster Benny Johnson’s show, the Ohio Republican made his position clear: “I think Dan would be great. Dan Bongino at the Secret Service would be with us on the change that needs to take place to focus on the mission of that critical agency.”

The endorsement comes as former President Donald Trump considers key appointments for his new administration. According to a November report from Forbes, Trump is weighing Bongino and Sean Curran as potential candidates to lead the Secret Service. The stakes are high, with the agency facing criticism after two alleged assassination attempts on Trump over the summer. Bongino has been outspoken in his condemnation of the Secret Service’s handling of these incidents, calling the first attempt a “catastrophic failure.”

A Leadership Crisis in the Secret Service

The controversy has already led to the resignation of former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. Bipartisan pressure in Congress reportedly left her with little choice after the agency’s perceived mishandling of security breaches. Bongino’s criticism underscores the urgent need for reform, and his candidacy signals a potential shift in leadership style and priorities.

Trump’s staffing decisions extend beyond the Secret Service. He has already named key figures for Senate-confirmed Cabinet-level roles and White House staff positions. Bongino, a vocal advocate for strong national security, appears to align closely with Trump’s vision for overhauling federal agencies.

Bongino’s Rising Influence

Dan Bongino has long been a polarizing figure in conservative media. His blunt critiques and deep ties to law enforcement resonate with many on the right. However, his candidacy comes amid broader political drama. Just days before the November 5 election, Bongino accused Kellyanne Conway and other Republican operatives of sabotaging Trump’s campaign by undermining his choice of JD Vance as running mate.

“There’s a lot of internal sabotage going on right now,” Bongino said on his show. He dismissed media reports claiming Trump regrets selecting Vance as “absolute bullsh*t,” attributing them to leaks aimed at derailing the campaign. “I suspect strongly this was a leak from people who wanted another candidate for vice president,” Bongino asserted, specifically pointing to the “Kellyanne Conway camp.”

Bongino praised Trump and Vance as a “great ticket” and issued a stern warning to those he believes are undermining the team: “It’s time to pipe down. You’ve been warned. I’ve had about enough.”

A Turning Point for Federal Security

With Bongino’s name in the mix for Secret Service Director, the debate over leadership and accountability in federal security agencies takes center stage. His supporters argue that his experience and no-nonsense approach could restore public confidence. Critics, however, question whether his outspoken style might polarize an already fractured agency.

As Trump finalizes his picks, the nation watches closely. Bongino’s potential appointment could mark a significant turning point for the Secret Service—and for the broader battle over national security in the United States.

  1. Good to hear that maybe someone can take charge of FPS, Federal Protective Service, USPolice, I worked for that agency in Alaska and Arizona. Now that I am in Oklahoma, the VA building in Muskogee, Oklahoma has serious problems not allowing veterans to enter the building to visit veteran’s organizations to file claims. After numerous attempts to talk to the FPS officer in charge, he refused to answer calls and discuss the denial of veterans to enter the building. Let’s take charge. FPS was under the charge of GSA when I worked there and that was a political problem .

  2. Having been a follower of Dan Bongino, I agree with Jim Jordan’s recommendation. He is truly a qualified American citizen.
