Greg Gutfeld, one of Fox News’ top personalities, is reportedly facing resistance from network executives over his demands for a hefty salary increase. Despite his record-breaking ratings, insiders say Gutfeld’s push for a raise beyond his already lucrative $7 million paycheck is being met with firm opposition.
Gutfeld’s Meteoric Rise
The 60-year-old host of Gutfeld!—Fox News’ late-night alternative to traditional comedy—has seen his show soar in viewership, regularly pulling in more than 4 million nightly viewers. Additionally, as a co-host on The Five, Gutfeld plays a key role in one of the network’s most successful programs, alongside Dana Perino, Jesse Watters, and Jeanine Pirro.
Given his prominence, sources say Gutfeld believes he deserves a significant salary bump. “Greg sees himself as the driving force behind Fox News’ dominance in the ratings,” a high-level insider revealed. “He truly believes he’s doing the heavy lifting, especially in prime time. And he wants his paycheck to reflect that.”
Fox News Execs Hold Their Ground
Despite his confidence, network executives appear unwilling to budge. “Look, he’s already making a fortune,” the insider continued. “His show is performing well, but so are others. The feeling among the higher-ups is simple: He’s being paid handsomely to do his job—why should they shell out even more?”
There’s also concern over setting a precedent. “If they give in to Gutfeld’s demands, what’s stopping others from asking for the same? Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham, even Sean Hannity—they all pull in massive audiences. If one gets a raise, the floodgates open.”
A ‘Diva’ Move? Or Just Business?
Insiders describe Gutfeld’s contract negotiations as aggressive. “He’s huffing and puffing like a peacock,” another source close to the situation said. “To be fair, he’s confident in his value, but from the network’s perspective, they have him where they want him. No other network is going to pay him what he’s making now.”
Despite the pushback, Gutfeld reportedly remains undeterred. “Greg won’t give up,” the source added. “He’s going to hammer away at this until he gets what he wants—or until he’s absolutely sure they won’t budge.”
For now, it appears the ball is in Fox News’ court. Will they reward Gutfeld for his ratings success, or will they hold firm? One thing is certain: Greg Gutfeld isn’t going away quietly.

I only hear Gutfeld’s show on Sirius XM radio when I happen to be driving when it’s on, as I don’t have cable TV. It’s entertaining, but I can live without it. Indeed, no celebrity is in essential to life these days.

Due to a recent court ruling, the Liberal children of Rupert Murfoch may be in a position to push their more conservative brother, Lachlan, aside and take the network in a much different direction. This said, it’s not a great time for Greg to make such a move. With the writing on the wall, however, perhaps he wants to position himself for a more lucrative buyout if and when the shift to the left happens and FOX on-air personalitys are worth less on the market in the pro-liberal media world.
