Kamala’s “Think Tank” Mocked as a Joke—Even Liberals Can’t Defend It

Kamala Harris is back in the headlines—just not for the reasons she might’ve hoped. After one of the most widely panned political campaigns in modern memory, the former Vice President is now reportedly considering launching a “center for policy and ideas.” And across the internet, Americans are responding with a collective eye-roll—and more than a few brutal jokes.

The New York Times dropped the scoop Thursday with the headline: “Sidelined and Still Processing Her Defeat, Harris Looks for a Way Back In.” Sources close to Harris say she’s still nursing wounds from her failed 2024 campaign and now looking to salvage what’s left of her political brand. The plan? A new institute—possibly at Howard or Stanford—built around her ideas.

That’s where things took a nosedive.

“NYT: Kamala Harris, known for her deep knowledge and ability to articulate complex issues, is thinking about launching ‘an institute for policy and ideas,'” Washington Free Beacon senior writer Andrew Stiles mocked on X. His sarcasm was sharp: “The Kamala D. Harris Institute for Examining the Importance of Understanding What Needs to Be Done.”

That post ignited a firestorm of ridicule.

Republican strategist Matt Whitlock chimed in: “It sounds like a Babylon Bee headline. Sort of like if the Kardashians opened a think tank.” Twitchy’s Doug Powers called it “The Kamala Harris Center for the Unburdening of What Has Been,” throwing shade at her infamous poetic gaffes.

And it didn’t stop there.

PJ Media’s Stephen Green cracked, “Job 1: Finding some ideas and learning what policy is.” GOP comms director Abigail Jackson offered a rebrand suggestion: “The Coconut Tree Institute,” referencing Harris’ bizarre analogy comparing community resilience to coconuts.

Even seasoned Republicans couldn’t resist. Joe Jackson, Senator Cynthia Lummis’ top spokesman, dryly added, “I can only imagine the type of deep thinkers that will be affiliated with this venture.”

Fox News reached out to Harris’ office for comment. No response yet—which, for Harris, might actually be the smart move.

Behind the snark lies a serious question: Is Kamala Harris truly a thought leader? Her critics say she struggled to explain basic policy during her term and rarely appeared confident when handling big moments on the national stage. Her speeches were often wordy, confusing, or straight-up incoherent. Even former Trump advisor Jason Miller didn’t hold back last week, calling her latest anti-Trump speech in California “a world salad of buzzwords and nervous laughter.”

For Republican voters and conservative commentators, Harris’ attempt to become a policy figure is being seen less as a serious intellectual shift—and more as political comedy gold.

If the Kamala Harris Institute does come to life, one thing’s certain: late-night comedians and satirical sites will have job security for years to come.

  1. How soon does she intend to make all this happen? It’d be a great replacement for the entertainment industry summer reruns on TV!
