Chaos at ‘Good Morning America’ – Layoffs, Backstabbing, and Star Meltdowns

It’s panic mode behind the polished smiles at Good Morning America. What was once America’s cheerful morning mainstay is now reportedly teetering on the edge of a full-blown meltdown.

ABC insiders are spilling to us that mass layoffs, plummeting morale, and internal turf wars have left GMA’s cast and crew fearing they’re next in line for the chopping block.

In March, ABC gave the boot to 200 staffers in a brutal wave of cuts. Among the highest-profile exits? GMA3 executive producer Catherine McKenzie—ousted in what insiders describe as a hostile takeover by the main show’s production team.

“The vibe has completely changed,” said one staffer. “People walk on eggshells. Nobody feels safe—not even the on-air talent.”

For nearly ten years, Good Morning America ruled the airwaves. But recently, it’s been slipping—and fast. In January, the ratings gap with NBC’s Today show shrank to a razor-thin 16,000 viewers.

“This is not a fluke,” said a former producer. “This is the result of years of internal decay, talent infighting, and tone-deaf leadership.”

The drama doesn’t stop behind the scenes. Sources say longtime anchors George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, and Michael Strahan are resisting efforts to pull them into the embattled third hour, GMA3, which has been struggling since the scandalous exit of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes in 2022.

“That hour has been cursed since the affair blew up the brand,” said a network source. “And now the big stars want nothing to do with it.”

ABC tried to downplay the tensions. “The third hour is a valued part of the GMA franchise,” the network said in a lukewarm statement. “Robin, George, and Michael have been on before and will continue to be featured.”

But insiders paint a more chaotic picture. “It’s a mutiny. The stars don’t want to be dragged into a sinking ship, and the execs are tired of dealing with diva behavior,” one well-placed source added.

Behind closed doors, ABC brass are reportedly fuming over what they see as “prima donna” antics from their million-dollar talent.

“It’s a new era. The network isn’t coddling the stars anymore,” said a senior-level source. “You either adapt—or you’re gone.”

Some conservative media analysts suggest GMA’s woke agenda is turning off traditional American viewers. “ABC forgot its audience,” said political commentator Mike Tiernan. “Americans want real news, not virtue signals before their coffee.”

While execs insist everything is “business as usual,” the whispers of mass exodus and deep distrust continue to grow louder.

“The mood is grim,” said one longtime crew member. “Nobody believes the worst is over. The question now is who’s next.”

Stay tuned—we’re watching the fallout from inside ABC’s crumbling morning empire.
