Sen. Adam Schiff just pulled back the curtain on a stunning moment of truth that he says every Democrat needs to hear — straight from the lips of an ordinary San Francisco cashier who didn’t hold back about the mess liberal policies have created.
Appearing on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night, Schiff reluctantly admitted his party has a “major problem” — and it’s one he learned the hard way.
Pressed by Maher to assess the state of Democratic leadership in California, Schiff didn’t sugarcoat it: “We’re gonna have to change how we do business,” he said. “We’re gonna have to address people’s legitimate concerns about crime.”
Schiff then recounted a personal humiliation from two years ago — when his luggage was stolen right out of his car during a visit to San Francisco, the poster child for progressive failure. Ignoring advice not to leave valuables in his vehicle, Schiff returned to find his belongings gone. But the real eye-opener came later that night, while picking up replacement toiletries at a Target in South San Francisco.
“First of all, I had to find a clerk to unlock the shampoo,” Schiff said, painting a picture of a city so plagued by theft that even basic necessities are kept under lock and key.
Then came the knockout blow. After explaining his situation to the cashier, Schiff said she looked him dead in the eye and, in his words, “basically said, ‘Yeah, Democrats are a**holes.'”
If a late-night cashier in deep-blue California feels that way, Schiff admitted, Democrats are “in major trouble.”
Maher didn’t disagree. “That’s an awesome story,” he said, urging Democrats to wake up and pay attention.
The exchange comes as San Francisco continues to battle a devastating surge in crime. Burglaries have skyrocketed, businesses are fleeing downtown, and residents are openly voicing their frustration with soft-on-crime policies championed by Democratic leaders.
Earlier this year, San Francisco elected a new Democratic mayor, Daniel Lurie, with promises to crack down on lawlessness and clean up the city’s battered image. Schiff praised Lurie as “helping lead the way in how we kind of reinvent how Democrats are doing governance,” but many critics argue the damage is already done — and voters across America are taking notice.
Conservatives have long warned that Democrats’ embrace of radical policies would end in disaster. Schiff’s confession, delivered on a major liberal platform, is the latest — and perhaps clearest — sign yet that even the left’s top figures are starting to realize it too.
As one Republican strategist put it bluntly: “When Adam Schiff is quoting Target cashiers about how bad Democrats are, you know the tide is turning.”

He will just figure out a way to twist things, like he always does, so that he and the media will all claim it was caused by conservatives. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the official copy of the Maher show disappears so Schiff can say he never said that.

Note that he was talking about what OTHER Democrats need to do. He thinks he’s doing everything correct, even though he’s doing what he’s condemning those others for doing. He is such a sleaze!
Yet with all that going on in SF, people still vote for Democrats. You just can’t fix stupid.
