Ex-Dem Insider to Expose Democrats Who Covered Up Biden’s Cognitive Decline

A former Democratic fundraiser is pulling back the curtain on what she says was a stunning behind-the-scenes panic inside the Democratic Party over Joe Biden’s decline — and she claims some of the party’s biggest names knew far more than they ever admitted publicly.

Lindy Li, a former Democratic National Committee fundraiser who later switched her party affiliation, told Fox News Digital that Democrats are now “completely rudderless” after the fallout from the 2024 election and the party’s handling of Biden’s shaky final campaign.

According to Li, the public was not being told the truth about Biden’s condition or the growing alarm inside Democratic circles.

“Whatever was out there, it wasn’t the truth,” Li said. “They wanted him to go, and also in my book, I will be telling people exactly who was aware of Biden’s cognitive decline but pretended otherwise.”

Li is set to release a new book, “Unburdened,” later this year. In it, she says she will expose private conversations, internal polling, and the fears that gripped Democrats as Biden’s campaign unraveled.

The revelations paint a brutal picture of a party that publicly rallied behind Biden while privately questioning whether he was fit to continue.

Li said she was especially shocked by prominent Democrats who defended Biden in public while expressing serious doubts behind the scenes.

One of those names, she said, was Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

“I remember getting a text from Schiff,” Li told Fox News Digital. “I have it in my book. Basically, Adam Schiff was — I can’t remember what he said on TV, but I’m telling you right now that behind the scenes he very much wanted [Biden] to go.”

A spokesperson for Schiff pushed back on the idea that this was some hidden bombshell, arguing that Schiff later voiced public concerns about Biden after the former president’s disastrous 2024 debate performance.

“The Senator’s concerns and call on President Biden to not run was very public, so none of this is news,” the spokesperson said.

But Li’s broader point is that the panic started long before Democrats finally admitted there was a problem.

She said many Democrats were afraid to challenge Biden because they feared political exile if they failed.

“They didn’t want to get ostracized by the party,” Li said. “It’s like the axiom: you come at the king; you better not miss. Everyone would have missed.”

According to Li, internal polling showed that no other Democrat had the strength to beat Biden in a primary, even as concerns over his age and mental sharpness mounted.

“There are many candidates who polled themselves against Biden and then realized that they couldn’t beat him in a primary,” she said. “It wasn’t a matter so much of anti-Trumpism. It was self-interest.”

Li claimed she has seen internal polling data that has never been made public and plans to include it in her book.

“I’ve seen the polling data, and I also include that in my book — polling no one has seen before,” she said.

Her comments also raise questions about Vice President Kamala Harris, who eventually became the party’s standard-bearer after Biden stepped aside.

Li said Harris was not viewed as a strong replacement inside Democratic circles.

“She was the weakest candidate in the field,” Li said.

According to Li, Harris was tested against other high-profile Democrats, including Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro and Gretchen Whitmer.

“I also have polling data right before Kamala ascended,” she said. “We stacked her against Buttigieg, Newsom, Shapiro, Whitmer — all of them.”

The claims add fuel to long-running Republican accusations that Democratic leaders and the media ignored obvious warning signs about Biden’s condition until the political cost became impossible to hide.

Li said part of the problem was Biden’s long history in Washington and the deep loyalty he inspired among allies.

“He had decades of loyalty — his bond with people like James Clyburn,” Li said, referring to the longtime Democratic power broker who played a major role in reviving Biden’s 2020 campaign.

“There’s something about Joe Biden,” she added. “He was incredibly kind.”

But kindness, Li suggested, was not enough to save Democrats from the political disaster that followed.

Her remarks come as the party continues to face tough questions about who knew what, when they knew it, and why voters were left in the dark while Democratic insiders allegedly panicked behind closed doors.

Now, with her upcoming book, Li says she is ready to name names — and expose what really happened inside a party she says is still reeling from its own decisions.
