Tourist, 42, Found Dismembered on Popular Beach

A picturesque beach turned into a crime scene last week when the butchered remains of a Colombian woman were discovered scattered along the shores of Los Enanos Beach. The victim, 42-year-old Triana Arias, had vanished just hours after texting a friend she was heading to a party. Now, a bar owner with alleged ties to criminal activity is the prime suspect.

Arias, a mother and traveler from Colombia, was last seen alive on April 26. By the next morning, her dismembered body was found by a shocked passerby. Her legs had been slashed, her neck mutilated, and authorities say it appeared the killer tried to stuff her body into containers or bags before dumping her like trash in the sand.

The murder sent shockwaves through the island community — and quickly led investigators to David S., a local entrepreneur and owner of the Arenales Café-Bar in Las Palmas. He was arrested early Tuesday at his home in the Los Torres district, after police cordoned off his bar and launched a full forensic sweep.

Sources close to Spanish law enforcement told La Provincia that Arias may have attended a private, closed-door event at the bar the night she disappeared. A local police investigator, speaking under condition of anonymity, said, “We’re exploring whether narcotics or human trafficking are linked to this case. It’s not just a domestic dispute gone wrong — this looks calculated.”

A ‘Popular’ Bar with a Darker Side

David S. had operated the Arenales Café-Bar for over six years and was a known figure in the community. Locals described the bar as “always packed,” but in recent years, it had shifted from a family-friendly venue to something far more sinister.

“It used to be a place for families,” said one resident. “Now it’s shut-door parties and strangers coming in and out late at night.”

Another local added, “The vibe changed. Loud music, rough crowds, and people you didn’t recognize hanging around. Something was off.”

Authorities are now investigating whether the bar was a front for illegal activity. The café remains sealed off with armed security posted outside, while forensic teams comb the premises for evidence.

Victim Was a Single Mother Seeking a New Start

Triana Arias had recently moved to Gran Canaria, reportedly seeking a better life for herself and her young son. Friends say she was optimistic and independent — but also cautious.

“She texted me before she went out,” a friend posted on social media. “She said she was going to a party, and then… nothing. That was the last time I heard from her.”

Arias’s sudden and brutal death has left her family shattered. One relative wrote online, “You were taken too soon. May God give strength to your son and mother in this horrific time.”

Ongoing Investigation Could Uncover More

The Guardia Civil says they are not ruling out additional arrests, and sources suggest that this may only be the beginning of a wider probe into underground networks operating on the island.

David S. is expected to appear in court by Thursday. Prosecutors are reportedly weighing aggravated murder charges with potential links to organized crime.

For now, the sun-soaked beach that draws thousands of tourists a year has become the site of one of Spain’s most gruesome murders in recent memory.
