Biden has Brain Freeze on ‘The View’ – Jill Jumps in to Save the Day (Video)

In a moment that quickly went viral Thursday, President Joe Biden struggled to respond to pointed questions about his mental decline during a rare joint appearance with his wife, Jill Biden, on The View. What was supposed to be a soft-ball interview turned into an awkward stumble that only added fuel to ongoing concerns about the president’s cognitive health.

The exchange began with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin—one of the show’s few moderate voices—asking a straightforward but cutting question about the president’s mental state:

“Since you left office, a number of books—sourced from Democrats—describe a steep cognitive decline in your final year. Are they wrong?”

Biden, 82, immediately dismissed the claims: “Those sources are wrong. Nothing to sustain that.” But what followed only raised more eyebrows.

In a rambling, disjointed monologue, Biden launched into a confusing string of phrases that included mentions of the Civil War, COVID-19 deaths, and vague criticisms of the Trump administration—all with little coherence.

“We left with a circumstance where we, we had an insurrection,” Biden began. “I started. Not since the Civil War we had, we had a circumstance where we were in a position that we, well—the pandemic, because of the incompetence of the last outfit—end up over a million people dying.”

He continued, struggling to maintain a train of thought: “We’re also in a situation where we found ourselves unable to deal with a lot of just basic issues… which I won’t go into in the interest of time… and so we went to work… and you know… one of the things that that well…”

That’s when the First Lady stepped in, effectively taking over the conversation as the president looked down and crossed his arms.

“Alyssa,” Jill Biden began, “the people who wrote those books weren’t in the White House with us. They didn’t see how hard Joe worked every day.” She painted an image of her husband as a tireless leader burning the midnight oil, still reading briefings while she was already in bed.

Jill, 73, insisted Joe Biden’s schedule was “non-stop,” describing the presidency as “a life you live 24 hours a day.”

“Joe worked really hard. I think he was a great president,” she added, “Give me Joe Biden, anytime.”

The audience, filled with pro-Biden cheerleaders, erupted in applause—especially after Jill’s not-so-subtle jab at Donald Trump. Joe, smiling again, quipped that his wife’s praise made the show appearance “worth it.”

But behind the applause and the carefully crafted defenses, Thursday’s moment laid bare what Republicans and independent voters have been asking for years: Is Joe Biden still fit for office?

This isn’t the first time Biden has frozen under pressure. His disastrous performance in the June 2024 presidential debate saw multiple gaffes, extended silences, and confusing tangents—leaving even some Democrats shaken. Former Obama advisor David Axelrod called the debate a “wake-up call.” Polls showed a sharp drop in confidence among swing voters within 48 hours.

The president’s age—he turns 83 this November—has become a central issue in the 2025 campaign. And while Jill Biden has taken on the role of defender-in-chief, critics say the country deserves more than a spokesperson—they deserve a president who can answer simple questions without help.

As Election Day looms, Republicans are doubling down. “Biden isn’t running the country—he’s running from the truth,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) after the broadcast. “It’s Jill Biden and the White House staff doing the heavy lifting while Joe struggles to form a sentence.”

Whether Thursday’s incident was just another flub or a defining moment remains to be seen. But for many Americans watching, the image of a faltering president needing rescue on national TV won’t soon be forgotten.
