Mass Shooting at Gym: 2 Dead, Several Wounded in Broad-Daylight Bloodbath

A normal afternoon workout turned into a scene of horror Friday when gunfire erupted inside a Las Vegas gym, leaving two people dead—including the suspected shooter—and at least three others wounded. The shooting occurred at the Las Vegas Athletic Club (LVAC) on the city’s west side, just off North Rainbow Boulevard.

Police Confirm Suspect Dead, Motive Still a Mystery

Las Vegas Metro Police rushed to the scene after 911 calls reported shots fired around 2:30 p.m. One man was killed inside the gym near a workout machine, police said. The shooter, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. Authorities confirmed his death on social media hours later.

Three others suffered injuries, one of whom is in critical condition, according to Las Vegas Metro PD spokespersons at a press conference Friday evening.

“This was an isolated incident. There is no continued threat to the public,” said Undersheriff Andrew Walsh, urging the community to stay calm as investigators work to piece together what triggered the attack.

Witnesses Describe Chaos and Terror

Gym-goers described a terrifying scene as bullets tore through the facility.

“They just started screaming, ‘Get out, get out!’” said Claudio Vigani, who was working out when the shooting began. “Next thing I saw was a man, dead by the machine. It was pure panic.”

Outside the gym, police established a wide perimeter and secured the building. First responders tended to victims while visibly shaken patrons gathered in the parking lot.

Gary Steward, who had planned to enter the gym moments before the shooting, said a last-minute decision may have saved his life.

“We stopped at a nutrition store next door. If we didn’t, we would’ve been right there at the front desk,” Steward told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We saw glass shattering, people running, and we just turned back. It’s unreal.”

A Nation on Edge Once Again

While police have not confirmed a motive, the attack has once again raised concerns about public safety in everyday places—this time, not a school or concert, but a gym.

“Who shoots up a gym?” Steward asked. “It’s not supposed to happen. But now it does.”

This latest mass shooting comes at a time when Americans are increasingly uneasy about rising violence in cities across the country. Las Vegas, a city known for entertainment and resilience, is now the latest backdrop for a tragedy that many say is preventable—but continues to repeat.

Still No Word from LVAC

Repeated calls to the Las Vegas Athletic Club and its corporate office were not returned. The University Medical Center confirmed it received four patients, one in critical condition, following the shooting.

As investigators continue reviewing security footage and interviewing witnesses, the community is left asking how—yet again—a place of normal life became the site of bloodshed.

“We can’t even go to the gym anymore without wondering if someone’s going to snap,” said a woman who declined to be named, still shaking in the aftermath. “This is America now.”

Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooter or events leading up to the attack to contact Las Vegas Metro Police immediately.
