Outrage Erupts at School Board Meeting After Trans Athlete Wins Multiple Track Events

Naperville, Illinois — A quiet suburb turned into a political firestorm Monday night as parents packed a school board meeting in Naperville to protest what many are calling an attack on girls’ sports. The cause? A biological male, identifying as female, had just swept multiple track and field events against 7th-grade girls — igniting outrage and sparking a fiery debate over fairness, biology, and the future of Title IX.

At the center of the storm was the Naper Prairie Conference Meet, where the trans-identifying athlete outpaced female competitors in several races. The victories shocked parents who say their daughters are being pushed aside by radical policies that ignore science in favor of political ideology.

“This isn’t about inclusion anymore,” said local father Mike LaBelle, speaking directly to the Naperville 203 School Board. “This is about dismantling reality. My daughter trained for years for moments like this, and now she’s told biology doesn’t matter. That’s not fairness — it’s betrayal.”

More than 100 residents flooded the school board auditorium and an overflow room. Outside, protestors waved American flags and held signs reading “Save Women’s Sports” and “Respect Reality,” while a smaller crowd held transgender pride flags and called for tolerance.

The meeting quickly grew heated as both sides took the mic.

“This is not progress. This is an agenda,” declared Doug MacGregor, a Naperville resident and grandfather. “This district has been hijacked by DEI talking points and gender ideology that’s erasing our daughters’ chances at victory. This was supposed to be about education — not social engineering.”

Federal Complaint Filed

The group Awake Illinois filed a federal civil rights complaint against the district on Monday, accusing it of violating Title IX — the landmark 1972 law that protects women’s educational and athletic opportunities. The group says the district receives up to $9 million in federal funding annually and is now calling on the Education Department to suspend those funds until girls’ sports are protected.

“Girls are crying on the track while boys walk off with their medals,” said Shannon Adcock, founder of Awake Illinois. “This isn’t equality. This is erasure. Naperville isn’t some progressive lab experiment — it’s a community where parents expect common sense to prevail.”

Calls for Separate Divisions Grow

One proposed solution came from parent Lauren Hruby: a separate competition category for transgender athletes.

“I have nothing against these kids personally,” Hruby said. “But my daughter is being asked to compete against someone who went through male puberty. That’s not a fair race. That’s a rigged one.”

Hruby, who said her daughter is hoping for a college athletic scholarship, fears opportunities are slipping away for young women under current policies.

“I’m just here to stand up for women. And it’s sad we have to beg for that in 2025.”

Progress or Politics?

On the other side of the aisle, some argued the trans athlete had every right to compete based on gender identity.

“When a student is forced into a category that doesn’t reflect who they are, we’re the ones holding them back,” said Dorothy Powers, a self-described non-binary parent of six. “America’s always moved forward. Why are we trying to drag it backward?”

Supporters of the trans student said the attacks were cruel and warned that the debate is fueling hate toward a vulnerable population.

But many in the crowd weren’t buying it.

“Don’t call us bigots for standing up for biology,” said Tim Reagan, a coach and local dad. “This isn’t about hate. It’s about fairness. It’s about truth.”

Nationwide Implications

Illinois is just the latest battleground in what’s quickly becoming a national issue. More than 20 states have already passed laws banning biological males from competing in female sports, and others are facing lawsuits from both directions.

“This moment is bigger than Naperville,” Adcock said. “It’s a warning. Every school district in America is one decision away from destroying girls’ sports — and parents everywhere need to wake up.”

As the debate heads to federal investigators and the courtroom, one thing is certain: the voices in Naperville have sparked a conversation that isn’t going away anytime soon.

  1. Transgenders who are unable to be competitive in male athletics should be allowed to compete in events with other transgenders. There are only two biological sexes, so to provide a fare competition there should be a categories for males, females, transgenders, or other categories as they are developed.

  2. Let it compete in the girls sports but if it wins disqualify it because it’s a biological male. That will mess up it’s mind.
