Newsom Threatens to “Punch” President Trump

California Governor Gavin Newsom is doubling down on his feud with President Donald Trump, threatening to “punch this bully in the mouth” as the battle over congressional maps and control of Washington intensifies.

The heated remark came Wednesday during a press call, where Newsom defended his social media trolling campaign against Trump and vowed to push forward with a controversial redistricting plan in California. The plan aims to create up to five new deep-blue congressional seats — a move critics say is a direct attempt to undermine Republican representation.

“This is about power. It’s about democracy. And it’s about stopping Trump’s authoritarian takeover,” Newsom declared. “We’re going to fight back — and yes, we’re going to punch this bully in the mouth.”

Tensions between the White House and Sacramento have reached a boiling point in recent weeks. President Trump has openly called on Texas Republicans to redraw their congressional maps, creating five additional GOP-friendly districts ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Newsom retaliated by announcing his own plan to overhaul California’s congressional map, seeking to add five Democratic-leaning districts in a state where the GOP already faces an uphill battle.
