Cracker Barrel Goes Woke? Fans Threaten Boycott Over Logo Change

Cracker Barrel, the beloved Southern dining chain founded in 1969, has ignited a firestorm among conservatives after unveiling a stripped-down new logo that ditches its iconic imagery. For decades, the logo symbolized small-town Americana: a man in overalls leaning against a wooden barrel, a nostalgic emblem of front-porch tradition. But under CEO Julie Felss Masino, the company has removed the figure entirely, opting for a flat, text-only design that executives claim is “rooted even more closely to the iconic barrel shape and word mark that started it all.”

The decision has sparked outrage across the MAGA movement, with many accusing Cracker Barrel of abandoning its loyal base to chase a “woke” rebrand. Donald Trump Jr. blasted the company in a fiery post on X, writing, “WTF is wrong with Cracker Barrel?! They trashed a beloved American aesthetic to push sterile, soulless branding.” Conservative influencer Benny Johnson called the redesign “absolutely horrible,” while pundit Owen Shroyer mocked the company for being embarrassed by its own name. “It’s literally a cracker and a barrel. Own it. Instead, they’re pandering to people who will never eat there. Pathetic,” he wrote.

The Woke War Room, a prominent conservative watchdog, accused CEO Masino of running a “DEI-driven agenda,” pointing to ongoing civil rights complaints filed by America First Legal over Cracker Barrel’s diversity hiring policies. For many on the right, the outrage isn’t just about a logo—it’s about protecting cultural identity. Political commentator Sean Davis summed it up bluntly: “All I want is to sit next to a roaring fire with real food and real values. Is that too much to ask? Apparently, yes.”

The backlash has drawn instant comparisons to Bud Light’s disastrous 2023 campaign featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which triggered one of the largest conservative boycotts in modern corporate history. “Cracker Barrel… the Bud Light of formerly great restaurants,” one viral meme declared, alongside a photo of Masino wearing a clown wig. Influencers have already coined the phrase “Bud Light 2.0,” warning Cracker Barrel that it risks alienating its most loyal customers.

Despite the mounting criticism, Masino is doubling down. In an appearance on Good Morning America, she defended the redesign and broader $700 million “All the More” modernization campaign, which includes new décor, revamped menus, and partnerships with country music stars to attract younger diners. “People like what we’re doing,” she insisted. “Cracker Barrel needs to feel like Cracker Barrel for today and tomorrow.”

But for conservatives, tomorrow looks less like the America they remember. Many see this as yet another example of corporations bending to progressive activists and erasing cultural traditions to appeal to audiences who were never part of their core base. With over 77,000 employees and 660 locations nationwide, some worry a boycott could harm workers, but others argue this is about drawing a line in the sand.

In the era of President Trump’s second term, where cultural battles dominate headlines, Cracker Barrel has now stepped squarely into the crossfire. To many conservatives, this isn’t just a logo change—it’s a betrayal of heritage. And if Bud Light’s collapse taught corporate America anything, it’s that ignoring your base can cost you everything.

  1. Give me a break. Either you like the food or you don’t. Business need to update every so often. All they are doing is a little paint. It’s kind of like me saying Im not going to come visit you because you painted your living room blue.

  2. How allowful, Barrel this is a big mistake. Stop now while you can before the Barrel goes over the falls. This CEO needs to go now. Take a good thing and loose it.

  3. Every place is different but where I am from we also have plenty of IHOP’s and PERKINS. It is easy to give up on Cracker Barrell. We really do not care much for WOKE around here and Cracker Barrell keeps making WOKE moves. I already know of loyal customers who no longer spend their money at Cracker Barrell. We are part of Cracker Barrells base and I see more going elsewhere. People vote with their wallets every day. We will have to wait and see what happens. Maybe Cracker Barrells base will change and their bottom line will improve. That remains to be seen. If I was a betting man I know which side I would pick. I think this is all a major mistake.

  4. looks like a slam on seniors. i liked the origional design just fine. wont be eating there anymore.

  5. Go woke go broke. Sick of the Liberals trying to better everything. Leave well enough alone. No longer a Cracker Barrel fan.

  6. I’ll eat there anyways and if I don’t like their menu changes then I will quit eating there and go to Bob Evans.

  7. I won’t be back, unless they realize their idiotic mistake and change their logo back. Especially since you are also changing the interior design and menus. Well I guess I’ll save money from the not shopping too.
If you really found it necessary to change the logo, you could have made it even more family oriented by adding a farm women and a couple of kids and perhaps a dog, making it even more down home. Instead of just catering to the Left Lib Dems, socialist communists, and hate spewing media mob.
I agree get Rid of the woman CEO, just like the bad woman CEO for Bud Light, and her unintelligent decision.
    What a Shame. 😱

  8. CEO is an idiot, I heard on that waste of a morning show. saying they going to make more changes to the menu as well and doin the decor change was stupid. You cannot get the bakes sweet potatoe any longer and the only baked potatoe is the loaded one. They are offending a huge fan base. This is the U.S. and they are wanting to appeal to other immigrants that have flooded our borders. They have their restaurants and I frequent them as well. CB presented food made the way many families grew up with. Not all this bending over backwards appease everyone. Be content in the menu that has worked for decades do not change it, put the pork chop back on the breakfast menu to have with eggs or whatever entre people pick.
