An American tourist has sparked outrage online after a viral video showed her kicking a suitcase down a long, steep flight of historic steps in Croatia.
The clip, set to Jess Glynne’s “Hold My Hand,” shows Robin Bender sending her bag tumbling down the stairs, a move that infuriated locals and quickly spread across social media. Many users claiming to be Croatian slammed the tourist, saying her actions represent why some residents dislike visitors, with some even telling her not to return.

The video’s creator, Lena Moriarty, later revealed that the woman in the footage was her mother and defended her actions. “The fact that this has gone viral four times, accumulated 20 million views, and ended up on Croatian news… All because my mom yeeted her suitcase down the steps,” Moriarty wrote.
Speaking to Newsweek, the family explained they were rushing to leave their short-term rental. “The amount of steps in Croatia to get to our Airbnb was insanity,” Moriarty said. “So the only reasonable solution we saw while leaving in a rush was to toss our bags down the stairs.”
