Trump Buddy and Former Brazilian President Rushed to Hospital

“They’re trying to silence him. Again.” — Bolsonaro ally

Conservative icon and former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been rushed to the hospital in Brasilia after reportedly suffering from violent vomiting, dangerously low blood pressure, and uncontrollable hiccups, according to his son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro.

The health scare comes just days after Brazil’s far-left Supreme Court handed down a jaw-dropping 27-year prison sentence for allegedly “plotting a coup” after his 2022 election loss — a case critics worldwide are calling a political witch hunt to crush populist opposition.

“He’s under enormous stress. They are persecuting my father, destroying his legacy, and now, his health is failing,” Flavio wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Bolsonaro’s medical history is no secret. In 2018, while running for president on a law-and-order platform, he was nearly assassinated in a public stabbing — an incident many Brazilians believe was politically motivated. Since then, he has endured six abdominal surgeries, most recently a grueling 12-hour procedure in April 2025.

This weekend’s hospitalization follows the removal of suspicious skin lesions and a battery of lab tests performed Sunday.

Despite his declining health, Bolsonaro’s spirit remains defiant.

“They’re trying to jail the man who stood up to China, secured Brazil’s borders, and worked closely with President Trump,” said Brazilian lawmaker Carla Zambelli. “They fear strong conservative men.”

Last week, a panel of judges from Brazil’s top court found Bolsonaro guilty of “plotting to overturn the election,” despite widespread skepticism about the fairness of that election and the legitimacy of the charges.

The sentence: 27 years and 3 months in prison.

Supporters across Latin America and the United States are calling the decision a grotesque abuse of power.

“What happened in Brazil should terrify every freedom-loving American,” said Steve Bannon on his War Room podcast. “They used the same playbook they tried on Trump — criminalize political opposition and label patriots as insurrectionists.”

Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since August, allegedly for coordinating legal pressure on Brazil’s courts “in concert” with President Trump — a claim both leaders have denied.

President Donald Trump, currently serving his second term, has previously called Bolsonaro “a great friend of freedom” and “a strong leader.”

White House Press Secretary Maria Bartiromo said Tuesday, “President Trump is closely monitoring the situation in Brazil. He believes the charges against President Bolsonaro are politically motivated and deeply unjust.”

Bolsonaro’s hospitalization has only intensified concerns that Brazil’s deep state is pushing the country toward full-blown tyranny — and that what’s happening there could be a preview of future crackdowns in the U.S.

“It’s like January 6 on steroids,” said one former Bolsonaro campaign advisor. “They won’t stop until they break him physically and politically.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, Bolsonaro remains hospitalized under close watch. His legal team is preparing to appeal the court’s ruling, and a growing number of lawmakers in both Brazil and the U.S. are demanding international scrutiny.
