Antifa Thugs Disrupt Vigil for Charlie Kirk in Boston

A peaceful candlelight vigil for slain conservative icon Charlie Kirk descended into chaos Thursday night when Antifa radicals launched a profanity-laced disruption in downtown Boston — with at least two arrests and one weapon seizure.

Dozens of mourners had gathered at Boston Common to honor the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, who was assassinated last week during a Q&A event at Utah Valley University — a tragedy that has rocked patriotic communities nationwide.

“It was supposed to be a moment of unity, prayer, and grief,” said Elizabeth Harmon, a Boston attendee holding a MAGA candle. “Instead, these radicals tried to turn it into a battleground.”

Authorities say Joseph Antuan Castro Del Rio, 38, used a loudspeaker to verbally assault mourners, calling them “Nazis” and “fascists” while ignoring multiple police commands to leave.

When officers intervened, Del Rio reportedly plugged his device back in and resumed shouting, prompting his arrest for disorderly conduct and violating city sound ordinances.

But the most disturbing moment came from a juvenile male, believed to be under 18, who was allegedly spotted shouting obscenities at grieving families before punching a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.

The teen was arrested for assault and battery — and during a search, police discovered he was carrying a hunting knife.

“This was no peaceful protest,” said Boston Police spokesperson Lt. Marc Donnelly. “These individuals came looking for confrontation — and one of them came armed.”

The violent disruption comes just days after President Donald J. Trump renewed his push to officially designate Antifa as a terrorist organization, citing its escalating role in political violence.

“Antifa is not about free speech or protest,” Trump said from the White House Rose Garden. “It is a domestic terror group that targets patriotic Americans — and that ends under my watch.”

Turning Point USA issued a statement Friday morning, thanking law enforcement and calling the attack “a disgusting act of hate against the memory of a great American.”

Boston’s vigil was one of hundreds held across the country this week in Kirk’s honor. In cities from Phoenix to Pittsburgh, Americans gathered to light candles, say prayers, and pledge to continue his fight for conservative values on campus and beyond.

“He gave young conservatives a voice,” said vigil organizer Jacob Milner. “And now it’s up to us to make sure that voice isn’t silenced — not by bullets, and not by mobs.”

In Utah, officials say the suspect in Kirk’s shooting — a 19-year-old left-wing extremist — remains in custody. Federal charges may soon follow, sources say.

Republicans in Congress are already proposing legislation to increase federal penalties for disrupting political memorials, while state lawmakers in Massachusetts say they’re exploring laws to crack down on dangerous protest groups.

“This is about more than just one vigil,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). “It’s about whether or not Americans can grieve — or celebrate — their values without being attacked by thugs.”

As the 2025 election cycle heats up and tensions rise, Thursday night’s events in Boston may prove to be a turning point in the national debate over extremism, free speech, and public safety.

In Loving Memory of Charlie Kirk
    October 14, 1993 – September 10, 2025

Charlie Kirk was a devoted son, friend, husband, dad, American, all would agree
Doing all he could to help everyone he met, be it friends, enemies, you or me
Charlie was a great human being who loved Jesus Christ, never ashamed of that fact
Everyone could see it by all his good works and the way he would act
His love of America will always be a part of his life’s story
He became a conservative activist hoping he could help bring it back to its glory
He inspired people all over the United States, words coming from his heart
Knowing he could never do it alone, each one of us had to do our part
Especially young adults wishing that hearing him speak could change hatred to love
Learning we get more done by talking and laughing than if we push and we shove
He loved America and knew it was time to teach all to listen to each other
Sharing his ideas, he believed that in this world we are all sister and brother
Working together hand in hand to repair, build, and always be constructive
Teaching we have the right to disagree, but never the right to be become destructive
Instead of fighting or holding anger, he used kindness, laughter and respect as his tools
Enjoying the company of all he met and if they disagreed, hoped all would never act as fools
Instead we should make changes in peaceful ways, not hurt someone who doesn’t agree
Someone evil took him out of our lives, but will never remove his goodness from you or me
Evil thinks by killing a good human being they are going to win others to their side
Instead, they lose thousands of followers, because hurting another changes the tide
Human beings lose all respect they have had and want to get away as fast as they can
Belonging to the group of human beings who respect and help their fellow man
Although Charlie Kirk was taken so young, he’ll live forever in the hearts of all he knew
His words and actions will teach them to love the Red, White and Blue
All blessed with being part of his life will remember his words as long as they live
Teaching them to do all the good that they can, teaching them to give, give and give
His family and so many are broken hearted he was taken away from them so fast
Yet, those of us who believe in Jesus Christ know Charlie has met Jesus face to face at last
Jesus has taken him into His arms and thanked Him for all he has done for the human race
As Jesus loved young people and warned any who hurt them they’d spend Eternity in disgrace
Charlie, is also with our new Saints, Carlos Acutis and Pier Gregory Frassati we now have three
Great men setting living examples how to care about others, ever thankful to be free
Who believed as we return to our Heavenly home, we will meet the Trinity face to face
So happy to see and thank us for all we did in our lives helping the human race
Proving life continues in Heaven as He promised and reunites us with family and friends
Where all giving, loving people live in peace in God’s World that never ends
