Diane Keaton’s Final Moments Revealed by 911 Audio

Hollywood is reeling after the loss of beloved actress Diane Keaton, whose final moments have now been revealed through heartbreaking 911 dispatch audio.

According to audio obtained by TMZ, a dispatcher could be heard saying, “Rescue 19, person down,” in the early hours of October 11 at the Oscar winner’s Los Angeles address. Paramedics rushed Keaton to a nearby hospital, but she was later pronounced dead. She was 79.

Keaton’s family confirmed her passing to People, sharing that the “Annie Hall” star’s health had taken a sudden turn in recent months.

“She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,” a close friend told the magazine. “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit. In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family. Even longtime friends didn’t know how serious it was.”

Grammy and Oscar-winning songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, who co-wrote Keaton’s Christmas single, said she noticed the change just weeks before the actress’s death.

“I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin,” Sager told People. “She had lost so much weight. She’d been in Palm Springs because her house in L.A. was damaged by the wildfires. When she came back, I was stunned by how much weight she’d lost. But even then, she was still a magic light for everyone.”

Sager remembered Keaton as “completely creative” and endlessly upbeat. “She lit up every room. She never stopped creating.”

Another friend added, “She was funny right up until the end. She lived on her own terms, surrounded by what and who she loved most.”

Following news of her passing, stars who worked alongside Keaton flooded social media with emotional tributes.

Steve Martin, who played her husband in Father of the Bride, posted a throwback quote from a 2021 Interview Magazine piece with Martin Short.

“Who’s sexier? Me or Steve Martin?” Short asked. “I mean, you’re both idiots,” Keaton had quipped. “Don’t know who first posted this, but it sums up our delightful relationship with Diane,” Martin wrote.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who played Keaton’s on-screen daughter, posted: “Diane, working with you will always be one of the highlights of my life. You were kind, generous, and your laughter filled every set.”

Goldie Hawn, Keaton’s First Wives Club co-star, shared a deeply personal message on Instagram:

“Diane, we aren’t ready to lose you. You’ve left us with fairy dust—light and memories beyond imagination. We agreed to grow old together. Maybe we still will… in the next life. Shine your fairy dust up there, girlfriend.”

Bette Midler added: “The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. She was hilarious, a complete original, without an ounce of guile. What you saw was who she was.”
