Terrifying Viral Halloween Prank Goes Wrong After Shocking Revelation (Video)

Authorities say they’ve tracked down the people behind a terrifying Halloween “prank” that nearly turned deadly for a Virginia family earlier this month — and the culprits turned out to be their own relatives.

After more than 100 hours of investigation, Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire announced that the three masked suspects caught on camera trying to break into a home on October 14 were actually cousins of the family who lived there, according to FOX 5.

Police say a woman came forward and confessed that she, her two sons, and a nephew staged the break-in as part of a Halloween prank. Two other adults and a child were allegedly involved in filming the stunt.

Security footage that quickly went viral showed three people dressed in horrifying costumes — one in a clown mask, another as Michael Myers from the Halloween movies, and a third as an “evil nun.” They were seen banging on the front door and shouting, “It’s your worst nightmare,” before slipping into the backyard and causing property damage.

At first, authorities treated the incident as a potential burglary, fearing the family had been specifically targeted. The prank took a dangerous turn when the homeowner’s brother arrived with a gun, unaware that the “attackers” were family members.

“This could have easily ended in tragedy,” Chief McGuire said. “For me, my team, and this community, it represents a moral failure — one where the consequences could have been deadly.”

Because the family has chosen not to press charges, the suspects’ names are not being released, and no one will be prosecuted.
