Terrifying Doorbell Video Shows Masked Trio Threaten to Widow and Her Children

It was supposed to be an ordinary October night in suburban Virginia. Instead, a widow and her children lived through what looked like a real-life horror movie.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, three masked strangers — dressed as a clown, a nun, and slasher icon Michael Myers — approached a quiet home in Alexandria, just eight miles outside Washington, D.C. The doorbell camera captured every chilling second.

“They were pounding on the door, harder and harder,” said Shayla, the homeowner’s daughter. “At first, I thought it was just a Halloween prank. I even said, ‘Happy Halloween.’ But then I realized they weren’t joking.”

The Threat: “It’s Either You Coming Out or We Coming In”

The trio’s terrifying threats echoed through the family’s front porch.

“It’s either you coming out or we coming in,” one of the masked intruders shouted, demanding the family open the door.

Inside, Shayla’s widowed mother, her younger brother, and the family dog huddled together in fear. The pounding continued, and the voices grew angrier. When Shayla threatened to call police, the suspects didn’t back down.

“They said they were going to break down the door,” she told WUSA9. “My heart dropped when they said they were going to take a chair and smash it. Then they said they were going to kill us.”

Terror at the Door — and Beyond

After failing to get inside, the intruders moved around the home, breaking through a wooden fence and slashing open deck screens. They peered through the windows, making threatening gestures and whispering threats before finally leaving after nearly ten minutes of torment.

“It’s not even a prank gone wrong,” Shayla said. “They tried to enter the home. My dad recently passed away, so my mom’s already been through so much. Now she’s terrified to be alone.”

Shayla added a chilling reminder about what could have happened: “Our Second Amendment right was not used — and could have been.”

“Literally The Purge,” Says Social Media

As the footage circulated online, many compared the scene to The Purge, the 2013 thriller in which masked attackers terrorize victims during a lawless night.

“Literally The Purge,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“They’re lucky they didn’t get shot,” another said.
“These criminals are becoming more brazen,” a third commented. “People are on edge. This is not a game.”

Police: “It Could Have Ended Very Badly”

Alexandria Police Chief Tarrik McGuire confirmed investigators are reviewing footage from neighboring homes and businesses to identify the suspects.

“They made alarming and threatening comments to the family, including statements that they would come inside and kill them,” McGuire said during a Thursday press conference.

He warned that the suspects could face multiple felony charges, including burglary and criminal threats.

“Under Virginia law, attempting to enter a residence constitutes burglary,” McGuire explained. “People need to understand — if you go up to someone’s door and make threats, it can end very badly.”

A Neighborhood on Edge

The incident has left residents in the Alexandria community shaken — and reminded many that not all Halloween masks are harmless.

For Shayla and her mother, the ordeal was more than a scare — it was a violation of their safety at home.

“I’m just glad I was there,” Shayla said quietly. “But now my mom can’t sleep. Every sound outside makes her jump.”

Police are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact Alexandria Police at 703-746-4444.
