Erika Kirk Says Late Husband Charlie Sent Her a ‘Sign’ the Night He Was Murdered

It’s been more than two months since conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk was gunned down in front of a packed auditorium — but his widow, Erika Kirk, says she still feels his presence.

During a deeply emotional appearance with Megyn Kelly in Glendale, Arizona, on November 22, Erika described the eerie “sign” she received from her late husband just hours after his assassination.

Speaking to a sold-out crowd, the 37-year-old mother of two recalled how Charlie — the 31-year-old Turning Point USA co-founder — always joked about streetlights flickering when they were together.

“When we first started dating, the lights would start to flicker,” Erika said. “It happened all the time. He’d look up and say, ‘This happens to me a lot,’ and I’d just laugh. But then it became our thing — every time it happened, he’d wink at me.”

For the couple, those flickering lights became a symbol of connection — a private signal that followed them from their early courtship to their marriage.

Erika’s voice broke as she described what happened the night of Charlie’s death on September 10. Kirk had been delivering a keynote speech at Utah Valley University when a gunman opened fire, killing him in front of thousands.

Back in her hotel room, alone and devastated, Erika said something strange began to happen.

“The bathroom light was just… flashing, like a strobe light,” she recalled. “I couldn’t sleep. Part of me was just shattered. But the other part of me knew — I knew he was there. I could feel him.”

Erika said her husband’s spirit seems to reach her in other ways, too — most notably through their young children.

Their three-year-old daughter, she shared, often asks her to “tell me about Daddy’s day in heaven.”

“I tell her heaven is exciting,” Erika said. “I tell her Daddy is having so much fun and making new friends. I tell her he’s building a place for us there.”

She said she reminds both of her children — including her one-year-old son — that “Daddy is orchestrating from heaven to make sure they always feel loved.”

Since the September tragedy, the Kirks’ story has resonated deeply with supporters across the country. Thousands have sent letters and gifts to the family, something Erika says gives her strength.

“Everyone who’s reached out, I can’t thank you enough,” she told the audience. “It reminds me that Charlie’s mission — to bring people together and fight for truth — didn’t die with him.”

As previously reported, 26-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested two days after the killing when his family turned him in to Utah authorities. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

Law enforcement officials have not released a motive, though sources say the investigation is ongoing.

For Erika, the focus now is on keeping her husband’s legacy alive — and recognizing the quiet moments that remind her he’s still near.

“When the lights flicker,” she said softly, “I just smile. Because that’s him. That’s Charlie.”
