New CBS News Boss Declares War on Woke Daytime TV — Wants ‘Right Wing’ Version of ‘The View’

CBS News is heading into bold new territory — and it’s red, not blue.

Under the leadership of newly installed president Bari Weiss, the network is quietly preparing to launch a conservative daytime talk show designed to go head-to-head with ABC’s famously liberal The View. Insiders say the project — nicknamed “The Right View” — will be a “no-nonsense, smart-debate alternative” to what Weiss reportedly calls “toxic television.”

“It’s time for something sane, sharp, and unapologetically American,” said one CBS executive close to the project. “Bari’s done playing nice.”

Weiss, the 41-year-old editor-turned-media-executive and founder of The Free Press, once auditioned for The View back in 2021. But ABC executives passed her over — reportedly due to poor audience testing and her “centrist-right contrarian” tone.

She hasn’t forgotten.

“She’s not just launching a show — she’s settling a score,” said a source inside CBS. “Bari felt The View wasted an opportunity. Now she’s creating the version they were too afraid to make.”

The former seat on The View eventually went to ex-Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin — a move many conservatives criticized as weak pandering.

What can viewers expect from The Right View?

CBS insiders describe the show as a “fresh, punchy format” with diverse conservative voices — not the shouting matches or celebrity drama that The View has become known for.

“We’re not trying to out-cancel anyone,” one producer reportedly said. “This is about real women, real issues, and real values.”

Weiss’s version will focus on faith, family, free speech, and small-town values — topics often mocked or ignored by legacy media. The show is expected to highlight working moms, small business owners, and cultural thinkers from the heartland.

There are also rumors Weiss is eyeing “names outside the coastal bubble” for panel roles, including outspoken authors, conservative influencers, and military wives.

Weiss’s power play doesn’t stop at morning talk.

Since taking the reins at CBS News on October 6, she’s launched a top-to-bottom overhaul of the network’s programming and personnel. According to sources, long-protected liberal figureheads are already being shown the door.

Among them? CBS Mornings veteran Gayle King.

Once the queen of morning television, King has come under fire for her close ties to the Obamas, her left-leaning tone, and what some insiders call a “celebrity-first, truth-second” attitude.

“She’s resisting, but she knows the writing is on the wall,” said one CBS staffer. “Bari’s not interested in protecting anyone’s brand. She’s building a new one.”

Just weeks after Weiss took charge, CBS Evening News anchor John Dickerson announced he was leaving. Officially, he said it was his decision.

Insiders tell a different story.

“Let’s be honest, he didn’t quit. He was pushed,” said a senior source. “Bari is making it impossible for the old liberal guard to stay. She’s cleaning house — fast.”

Weiss reportedly told producers she wants CBS Mornings to be “warmer, more human, and less scripted,” with a format inspired by the classic chemistry of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee — but with conservative soul.

“Americans don’t want snarky gossip. They want authenticity,” said one insider. “Bari believes Gayle has the potential — but she has to drop the act.”

A former New York Times opinion editor, Weiss made waves in 2020 when she resigned over what she called the paper’s “illiberal environment” and “woke orthodoxy.” Her departure letter went viral among free-speech advocates and critics of legacy media.

She then launched The Free Press, an independent outlet covering cultural stories from a heterodox lens — and it quickly gained a large, dedicated readership. In 2024, Weiss was tapped by CBS parent company Paramount to revive the network’s sagging reputation.

Now in 2025, she’s executing what many on the Right see as a long-overdue revolution in mainstream news.

“She’s the anti-woke antidote broadcast TV needs,” said media watchdog Brent Bozell. “If Bari pulls this off, she’ll be remembered as the woman who saved CBS.”

Production on The Right View is still in early stages, but sources say test panels are already being screened and pilot tapings could begin before the end of the year — just in time to shape narratives heading into the 2026 midterms.

Trump allies and MAGA influencers are reportedly watching closely — and quietly cheering her on.

“This isn’t just a TV show,” one conservative strategist said. “It’s cultural warfare — and finally, someone’s fighting back on air.”
