A quiet Thanksgiving evening turned into a wild scene in Los Gatos, California, when a 90-year-old man drove his car straight into a popular local coffee shop.
Police say the shocking crash happened around 9 p.m. Thursday at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company. Photos from the scene show the black sedan completely inside the café, surrounded by shattered glass and debris.
The elderly driver, a longtime resident of the area, was trapped in the vehicle before firefighters pulled him out. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in serious but stable condition, according to police.
Fortunately, the shop was closed at the time of the crash — no customers or employees were inside when the car smashed through the front windows.
Investigators are still piecing together what happened, and police say alcohol “may have been a factor,” though all possibilities are being reviewed.
The Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company is a local favorite known for its cozy small-town vibe. Locals say they’re just grateful no one else was hurt on what should have been a peaceful holiday night.
