Tim Tebow’s Dad Dead at 78

Tim Tebow’s heartbreaking goodbye is hitting fans right in the chest.

The former Tim Tebow revealed that his father, Bob Tebow, has died at 78 — and the emotional tribute he shared is nothing short of gut-wrenching.

The ex-Heisman winner announced Thursday’s loss in a deeply personal Instagram post, just years after opening up about his dad’s long battle with Parkinson’s disease back in 2016. While no official cause of death was given, the message made one thing clear: this wasn’t just a loss — it was the end of an era for the Tebow family.

“Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home,” Tebow wrote, framing the moment not as tragedy, but as a spiritual homecoming. “Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost… we know exactly where he is.”

Then came the line that’s leaving followers shaken.

Just days before his death, Tebow asked his father what he was most excited about in heaven. The answer? One word: “Jesus.”

“He couldn’t wait,” Tebow added. “Death has been swallowed up in victory. He’s healed and whole now.”

Alongside the tribute, Tebow shared a series of intimate family photos — including a powerful moment from his 2020 wedding to wife Demi-Leigh Tebow, where he’s seen pushing his father in a wheelchair. Another snapshot captured the emotional moment the couple revealed their pregnancy news to Bob and his wife Pam.

Demi-Leigh, who welcomed the couple’s daughter Daphne Reign last July, also posted her own tearful message — painting a softer, more personal picture of the man behind the public image.

“I didn’t get to know the big, strong, tough man so many speak of,” she wrote. “I got to know the gentle grandpa… the one who loved ice cream, a good laugh and never met a dog he didn’t like.”

But her message turned heavy fast.

“We know heaven is rejoicing… but on this side of heaven, the emptiness is real, and it is heavy.”

Bob Tebow wasn’t just a father — he was a towering influence in his son’s life, helping shape the outspoken athlete into one of the most faith-driven figures in sports. From the NFL to a stint with the New York Mets organization and later a high-profile role at ESPN, Tim Tebow’s journey has always been closely tied to his father’s guidance.

Now, that guiding voice is gone — but the legacy? Very much alive.

“We will miss him,” Demi-Leigh wrote. “And we will do our best to carry forward the legacy he lived so faithfully.”

A devastating loss for the Tebow family — and a moment that’s clearly struck a chord far beyond it.
