During Wednesday night’s Public Counsel Awards Dinner at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the former vice president was deep into a serious onstage conversation when a saxophonist seated nearby appeared to doze off in full view of the crowd. While Harris spoke passionately about politics, protests, and the future of the country, the musician seemed to be in a world of his own, with his eyes closed and head down as if he had completely checked out.

Douglas Award from actress Uzo Aduba and used the occasion to deliver remarks praising Gen Z, defending her oath to the Constitution, and calling for a tougher approach to today’s political climate.

At one point, Harris reportedly spoke about “No Kings” rallies and long-term political strategy, while the saxophonist beside her appeared far more interested in getting through the evening with a quick nap.
