Hunter Biden’s Lavish Lifestyle Comes Back to Bite Him

Hunter Biden is back in the spotlight, and this time it is not over scandals from the campaign trail or another family controversy. The former first son is now facing fresh heat in court as his ex, Lunden Roberts, pushes for more child support, arguing that his pricey lifestyle does not match the story he is trying to sell to the judge.

In a new twist in their long-running Arkansas legal battle, a judge has ordered Biden to hand over tax records and other financial documents and sit for questioning under oath by Roberts’ legal team. The move could open the door to a deeper look at whether the 56-year-old is bringing in more money than he was when the pair reached their 2023 agreement.

Right now, Biden is paying Roberts $5,000 a month for their 7-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts. But Roberts’ attorney, Clint Lancaster, argued during a video hearing that Biden’s lifestyle appears far more upscale than it did when that deal was signed. According to a court transcript, Lancaster pointed to Biden’s living situation in California, describing it as a stunning home perched on a hill with ocean views.

That was not the only thing raised in court. Roberts’ side also highlighted Hunter’s trips overseas and his meals at upscale Nantucket restaurants with his father, former President Joe Biden, and Jill Biden. The argument was simple: if Hunter is living large, then his daughter should not be left behind while her half-siblings enjoy a dramatically different world.

Roberts has previously argued in court papers that Navy is old enough now to recognize the painful gap between her life and the lives of Hunter’s other children. Biden has four other kids, three with ex-wife Kathleen Buhle and one with current wife Melissa Cohen.

Hunter’s attorney, Brent Langdon, pushed back hard. He insisted his client is living in the same home he was in when the original agreement was reached and said it is only a rental. He also argued that dining out should not be used as evidence to jack up child support, especially when Hunter is already paying what Langdon claimed is at least double what the guidelines would normally require.

Still, Judge Holly Meyer gave Roberts a key win by ruling that she has the right to dig into Hunter’s recent financial records and question him directly about whether his income has grown enough to justify higher payments.

Hunter did manage to score one victory in the hearing. The judge tossed Roberts’ attempt to hold him in contempt over the artwork he promised to their daughter as part of the earlier settlement. Under that deal, Navy is allowed to choose 30 of Hunter’s paintings by late June 2026 and either keep them or sell them.

Roberts had asked the court to punish Hunter, even seeking jail time, for allegedly dragging his feet. But the judge agreed with Biden’s side that the deadline has not passed yet, so the contempt request came too early. Langdon told the court that Navy had already been sent 10 paintings and that another 47 were on the way for her to choose from.

The bigger issue hanging over the case may be one Roberts cannot fix through the courts. In January, she reopened the dispute with a bombshell filing accusing Hunter of “ghosting” Navy. But Judge Meyer made it clear that while courts can order money, they cannot force a parent to actually show up emotionally for a child.

She said she has spent years handling divorce and custody cases and cannot make someone communicate with their child or be a supportive parent. That, she said, is a personal choice Hunter is free to make, even if many would find it troubling.

The latest court battle adds yet another chapter to Hunter Biden’s already chaotic public record. He was convicted in 2024 on gun-related charges tied to lying about his drug use and separately convicted on federal tax charges involving $1.4 million. But before leaving office, Joe Biden handed his son a rare unconditional pardon, wiping away any remaining consequences tied to those cases.

Now the question is whether Hunter’s legal troubles are about to hit his wallet all over again. If Roberts’ lawyers uncover evidence that his income and lifestyle have climbed, the man once shielded by presidential power could soon be forced to pay a much higher price.
