A routine flight turned into a nightmare in the sky after one passenger says he was drenched — repeatedly — by a stream of mystery liquid pouring straight from the ceiling.
Kevin Glover, a 39-year-old from Cincinnati, never expected his April 26 trip from Houston to Chicago to go viral. But that’s exactly what happened after he posted shocking video showing liquid raining down on him mid-flight aboard a United Airlines plane.
And this wasn’t just a drip.
“It wasn’t a drip, it was like a string of water just came down and hit me,” Glover said, describing the bizarre moment that left him completely soaked.
According to Glover, the trouble started before the plane even took off. At first, he thought the moisture might be coming from his headphones. But seconds later, things escalated fast.
“As they pushed back, this water just came down,” he said.
From there, the situation only got worse.
Glover says he hit the call button, hoping for help, but claims the response from the crew was minimal. He says a flight attendant eventually handed him a few paper towels — and that was about it.
“I was soaked from head to undies, literally,” he wrote online.
But the worst was still to come.
After briefly falling asleep, Glover says he was jolted awake by another sudden downpour — this time lasting several seconds and even splashing nearby passengers.
“It startled my neighbors. It was bouncing off my hat onto them,” he said.
Crew members reportedly checked overhead compartments but couldn’t find a clear source. Glover says he was told it might be condensation from inside the cabin.
That explanation didn’t exactly ease his mind.
“At that point, I was concerned about the health risks,” he said.
In a desperate attempt to stop the leak, flight attendants stuffed napkins into ceiling openings. But about 20 minutes before landing, the makeshift fix failed — dramatically.
Glover captured the moment on video as a heavy stream poured down yet again.
“It was probably a good 20-second pour,” he said. “It got on my face, soaked my hoodie completely… my pants, my underwear. Even my phone got soaked.”
When the plane finally landed, the ordeal didn’t end there.
Glover says he waited until other passengers exited — only to walk through the jet bridge in soaked clothes while other travelers stared, whispered, and even pulled out their phones.
“It was embarrassing,” he said.
He claims airline staff told him there was nothing they could do on the spot and directed him to file a complaint online.
Days later, after his video racked up nearly nine million views, United Airlines reportedly offered him a $167 refund or a flight credit.
He turned it down.
“That’s a Band-Aid on a war wound,” Glover said, adding that he believes passengers deserve better treatment.
Now, what started as a bizarre in-flight mishap has turned into a viral flashpoint — with Glover saying he’s speaking up not just for himself, but for millions of frustrated travelers.
“I guess I’m an advocate now,” he said. “How about everybody gets treated the same?”
United Airlines has been contacted for comment.
