President Donald Trump is once again at the center of a terrifying security scare after a shocking armed incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner raised fresh questions about whether the Secret Service is failing to protect the nation’s commander-in-chief.
According to explosive claims first reported by RadarOnline, a California engineer with no criminal history allegedly slipped through multiple layers of security at the high-profile Washington, D.C. event and came dangerously close to Trump before chaos erupted inside the hotel.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, reportedly checked into the Washington Hilton days before the April 25 gala and somehow managed to bypass what should have been one of the tightest security operations in the country. Sources claim Allen later emerged from a service area armed with knives, a handgun, and a 12-gauge shotgun before charging toward a Secret Service screening checkpoint near the main ballroom.
Panic reportedly broke out moments later as gunfire echoed through the hotel.
One Secret Service agent was allegedly struck in a protective vest during the confrontation, while other agents opened fire as guests scrambled for cover. Witnesses described hearing multiple loud “pop-pop-pop” sounds before the glamorous political dinner instantly turned into a scene of fear and confusion.
“It was total chaos,” one attendee reportedly said. “People froze for a second, then everybody realized this was real.”
Allen was eventually subdued and arrested. He now faces multiple charges, including attempted assassination of the president of the United States.
The disturbing incident has triggered outrage from security experts and Trump supporters alike, especially because it comes after several other alarming security breakdowns surrounding the president over the past two years.
Former Navy SEAL and ex-FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam blasted the Secret Service response, calling the situation “a total failure.”
“This is absolutely ridiculous,” Gilliam said. “Nobody should have gotten that close.”
Former NYPD detective and security expert Patrick Brosnan also sounded the alarm, warning that repeated mistakes are revealing what he called “an alarming pattern of incompetence.”
Critics say the latest scare is especially troubling considering Trump has already survived multiple dangerous incidents in recent years.
In July 2024, Trump was wounded during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks allegedly fired at the then-candidate from a nearby rooftop. A bullet grazed Trump’s ear in the horrifying attack, leading to the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle days later.
Just months after that, another armed suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, was allegedly discovered hiding near Trump International Golf Club in Florida after reportedly evading detection for hours while Trump played nearby.
Now, this latest White House Correspondents’ Dinner scare is raising even more questions about whether America’s security agencies are truly prepared to stop a determined attacker before tragedy strikes.
According to reports, Allen allegedly sent a lengthy manifesto to family members and a former employer shortly before the incident. The document reportedly outlined grievances against the Trump administration and referenced foreign policy and immigration issues.
Meanwhile, shaken guests are still trying to process how an armed suspect allegedly got so close to the president at one of Washington’s most heavily guarded events.
“It’s terrifying,” one insider reportedly said. “You expect the Secret Service to have complete control in a room like that. Instead, it feels like Trump was left exposed.”
