Man Gunned Down Execution-Style While Doing Laundry with Wife in NYC

A quiet morning at a Brooklyn laundromat turned into a scene straight out of a crime thriller Monday after a masked gunman stormed inside and executed a man in front of horrified witnesses — while an innocent 68-year-old bystander was caught in the chaos.

Police say the targeted killing unfolded just after 8 a.m. inside the Xpress Laundromat in Flatlands, Brooklyn, where a 41-year-old man was washing clothes alongside his wife when a gunman dressed in black suddenly walked in and opened fire.

The attack was over almost as quickly as it began.

“He just came in, he shot, and then he just left the place in less than 10 seconds,” laundromat manager Sufyan Alahmadi told reporters after reviewing surveillance footage from inside the business.

According to Alahmadi, the suspect appeared calm and deliberate before unleashing the deadly barrage.

“He just took a look, and then he grabbed the gun and shot him,” he said.

The victim was hit multiple times and collapsed inside the laundromat as terrified customers scrambled for cover. First responders rushed him to Kings County Hospital Center, but he did not survive.

Authorities have not yet publicly released his identity.

Sources familiar with the investigation say detectives believe the victim was specifically targeted and are now looking into possible gang ties. Law enforcement sources also confirmed the slain man reportedly had a criminal record.

But the violence did not stop with the intended target.

During the hail of bullets, a stray round grazed a 68-year-old man in the foot. Unlike the slain victim, sources say the older man has no criminal history and appears to have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.

The suspect fled before police arrived and remains on the run. Witnesses described him as wearing all black along with a black face mask.

By midday, blood still stained the laundromat floor as investigators combed through the scene and collected evidence from the shocking daytime shooting.

The brazen execution is the latest violent incident to rattle New York City residents already frustrated by rising concerns over crime and public safety. And for neighbors in Flatlands, the fact that a man could be hunted down and murdered while simply doing laundry with his wife has left many shaken.

Police are continuing to search for the gunman.
