Gunman on Scooter Guns Down 7-Month-Old Baby in Broad Daylight

A quiet afternoon in Brooklyn turned into an unspeakable nightmare when a seven-month-old baby girl was fatally shot in broad daylight — all while sitting in her stroller.

The chilling violence unfolded just before 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday near Humboldt and Moore Street in East Williamsburg, a neighborhood known for its mix of trendy hotspots and gritty streets.

According to police, a suspect riding on the back of a scooter opened fire, striking the infant in the head as her mother pushed her along the sidewalk.

In a moment no parent should ever face, the mother rushed for help, fleeing into a nearby bodega — only to realize her baby had been critically wounded.

The child was immediately rushed to Woodhull Hospital, but despite desperate efforts, she could not be saved.

Inside the hospital, the heartbreak was impossible to ignore.

“I was in the hospital when the father brought the baby in,” one witness recalled. “The dad was screaming, ‘Save my baby!’ And the mother was screaming at the top of her lungs.”

Images released by authorities show two suspects believed to be connected to the shooting, including one seen holding a firearm while riding on the back of a scooter. The vehicle was later found abandoned just a few blocks away.

Now, a massive manhunt is underway as police search for those responsible for the senseless killing.

Aerial footage captured the aftermath — crime scene tape stretched across the street, officers flooding the area, and a shaken community left trying to process the unthinkable.

City officials reacted with visible emotion. Mayor Zohran Mamdani called the killing a “tragedy,” saying his “heart breaks” for the devastated family. He is expected to address the case further alongside Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, offering a $3,500 reward as the hunt for the suspects intensifies.

For now, a neighborhood — and a city — is left grieving a life that had barely just begun.
